installing a one piece head gasket. I know I have to use liquid sealer where the rubber center gaskets goes but do need to shave the cam chain roller shaft a bit.
The roller shaft sits below the deck then a small square rubber piece sits on top of that.
But I notice that rubber piece does hit the head gasket.

Also how much play is there supposed to be between the roller bearing and the rubber wheel?

There should be no play between the roller race and the rubber in between the sprocket. If there is slop it needs to be replaced. New rubber pieces?

Ok...one down ...one to go.
Need to know now about the gasket install.
Friend may have to work another two weeks for the cam chain rollers.

They say let the TRV set, cut it flush then apply more.
I use high temp copper and put it together while it's still wet. No leaks. B)

I've reused the rubber dampers. A dab or silicon to keep them in place. If touching the gasket all the better to keep them in.

I shaved my dampers a bit with my one piece head gasket.
I have about 4400 miles on it now with no leaks.

1. Do not trim the rubber damper blocks.
If they are brittle use new ones.

2. That idler centre has un-bonded and is scrap unless you have access to a lathe and have the know how to convert them to a solid aluminium centre so buy new ones.

3. Fill the centre 'O' ring groove with RTV , leave overnight to cure then slice flush with the block face using a new Stanley blade.
once done no more RTV is needed in that area if using a Cometic graphite head gasket..

4. If using a factory one piece head gasket then apply a "small" amount of RTV fore and aft of the cam chain tunnel on both sides of the head gasket to insure against oil leaks, as this area get soaked in oil thrown from the cam chain , especially the front (exhaust side) .

5. Don't use sealer on the cam cover gasket.
Just grease both sides to aid future removal and re-use .
It also seals the gasket and prevents oil seepage via the wick effect .
