Cheap! :P

Hopefully that is a joke.
You will need 30ton press, 'v' blocks, pair of centres ( lathe is ideal ) and Mounted dial gauges at the very least.
Unless you already have these or plan on doing loads of cranks it will be cheaper to have a specialist shop to do the work or source a better crank.

I've heard NOTHING but bad things about Falicon. This is repeated again and again too.

Regarding the crank, what kind of KZ are we talking about anyway? If it's a big KZ with a roller bearing crank then (John) Pearson racing in Ohio or (Stan Gardner) Gardner racing concepts both come highly recommended.

If we are talking about a plain bearing crank that's a whole different discussion. Measure the crank with a micrometer and see how much wear is present. You can use plastigauge to check the bearing fit. Replace bearings as needed and get a better used crank if you need one, which is unlikely.

+1 0n Falicon, last two times my brother sent a crank for his GS dragbike
to them it took many months past the original completion date to deliver.
He says never again.

Interesting. I guess we'll see if Dr. Gamma is happy with their work after he installs the crank from them. See www.kzrider.com/forum/11-projects/586776...bike?start=60#699577

I would put my Falicon Ultra Lite Supercrank up against any crank every made for any Kawasaki.
That being said ....I had my crank done in 1981 or 82. Poor memory on dates that long ago.
Tom Falicon founded and owned his company till about 2000.
That is when the negative statements started to blemish the shops rep.
I had excellent dealings with Tom and got a top of the line job in a timely fashion. My team and I did 6 cranks with him over a 2 year period for our top fueler and funny bike and NEVER had one failure EVER.
I heard Tom could be a real hard man to work for , but the work was perfect.
Now a new owner has the company and I have heard the service has taken a beating.. Maybe he has to much work or focuses on dealer or race team work. Don't Know..
Happily their are a few new shops out there to fill the gap. If I need work done in the future Pearson will most likely get my business

My Guy in Buffalo, NY still does cranks. You would cringe if you seen us beating them. And of course a big hydraulic press! Years back There was "FreeWheeling Cycle" They were an official Kawasaki dealer. Kal the owner used to sell us warranty fixed GPZ big pin cranks for $20 bucks, Must have gotten 12-15 early 80's.
Fixed them, slight twists. Welded them, sold them at the Dragbike IDBA - ProStar races $200-$250 a piece

Hey Dave, we were out then too. Jim Mangus ran a Nitro Fuel Kawasaki. Broadway Kawasaki with "Richie Rich Racing" "Brian Johnson from England who just passed, used to run a funny bike. Brian Johnson had so much cash, he wanted to buy into Paul Gast's from FBG Business. "Puppet" was building chassis's back then n Richie Rich shop, back of the Broadway Kaw dealer Until the Feds came in and busted up a cocaine ring from South America to Florida to New York. They paddle locked the business with everything inside. Them Bastards. I got the big shaft on parts and a KZ1000 after that episode.

Those were great times to be racing bikes. .
Bill Hahn was our God of all things fast.
Bo was his rider, Mark Miller out of Florida had a Hahn backed bike and so did my Good friend Kevin Tooma. ( We had 2 of them )
The three of us were Bills Boys and all got the latest creations out of Bills garage.
We didn't have to sell dope to pay for our racing as Kevins Dad was filthy rich and paid for what ever we needed or just wanted.
We rolled out of our shop for any event with 2 bikes, 4 complete extra motors of various configurations and enough parts for at least 2 or 3 more. Life was good :P That's how I learned what worked and applied that knowledge to my Turbo LTD
Always nice to reminisce
