What if connecting rod bearings are bad? How to replace them?

That's one option, a good machine shop can do it too (find one that does KZ or GS dragbikes OR two stroke work) whichever way,

I've heard NOTHING but bad things about Falicon. This is repeated again and again too.

Regarding the crank, what kind of KZ are we talking about anyway? If it's a big KZ with a roller bearing crank then (John) Pearson racing in Ohio or (Stan Gardner) Gardner racing concepts both come highly recommended.

I would like to repair it myself, I just need a press, instructions and new bearings. I don't think it is such a big deal to take crank apart. Where to buy bearings? How do they look like?
Hardest part is to align crank, some kind of jig has to be made.

Only thing i see (besides the shiny) is that must be a J crank. ELR?

Yes, you 'could' do it on your own, kawasaki had special tooling to do it, have no idea if there's a crank manual for the big kz, there is one for the H1/H2, but once again they had special tooling. Not aware of who or where to get bearings, would have to measure and contact a supplier I'd assume, and make sure they're the correct series and grade.

If bearings are bad give it a pitch and start with another crank. When I drag Racing I bought brand new cranks from Kawasaki ad sent them off to be done I still have a couple NOS cranks in stock.

Some guys on the XS650 site have done their own cranks. Good reading. I'm pretty much a maniac about doing everything myself but don't think I'd mess with a big KZ crank. Send it to a pro and get it welded when done.
