Down in that area are a lot of Gireines. The young guys tend to just ride the piss out of them until they stop running.

I sent the guy a e-mail this morning telling him I can drive my old truck down there to pick up the bike but I wanted to confirm I wasn't paying anything for it though I'd like to being I'm on a fixed income and the gas could be as much as $100. He said no problem he is on a fixed income too so I guess I'm good to go. I still feel bad about getting it for little to nothing so I offered him a leaded glass lamp I had listed on eBay. What else do I got laying around.

Like the stickers. Is the lamp in your garage or rec room?

It's in Bossie's shed I call the Box. Used to be my daughter's green house. I wish I'd made it bigger.

Well I guess I'm ready to drive 2.5 hours to pick up the little KZ. My old 69 ford F250 tires needed rotating and balance. Felt like Fred Flintstone driving it. Now it rides like a car. I just talked to him on the phone. He sounds very old and frail. :( He tells me every shop he took it to told him it wasn't worth fixing so he tore up the title. He says it leaks oil horrably when you start it. That's why it's parts only. What I've been able to glean from this is, it runs, it leaks but most of us know it's likely a seal or gasket and that's fixable. He doesn't want the lamp because he's moving and can't take it with him. I think I'll keep in contact with him and when I can afford it, I'll send him some money. We'll find out tomorrow.

Well got it home. Two tanks of gas and 7 hours, start to finish. Had to replace my fuel pump. Was doing the pre flight and noticed squirting from it. $34 and on the road. Clutch started acting up, (linkage) so I limped home. Took a wrong turn, they do it so you have to go through town, two of them, Perris and Hemit. Should have stayed on the FWY. Oh well it's 4:00 and time for my nap. I'll unload it later.

Well the guy isn't elderly. He's at least ten years younger than me. His voice is like that because he yelled too much. I didn't ask him, I just know by experance. B) He's also not the sharpest tool in the shed.
The bike is rougher than in the pics. Must have been an old one. It's obvious it's been neglected. The tank isn't the original color. Looks to be a pro job but the side covers aren't. B) Had a foot ball logo sticker on the tank. I peeled it off. Dolphins. He took off the box. I wanted that for my bike.
There is some beach rust here and there. Rubbers are good on the carbs. The first thing I will do is pull the carbs and plugs.
For the newbies here, I think I'll start a new thread and show how I go about it. If it will run, I'll buy a battery. If not, I'll have parts available. Front end is good, no rust in the tank, a complete bike.
We'll see.
