I have after market slip-on cocktail shaker mufflers and I am going to individual air pod filters.
Has any one had similar modification and used a stage three jet kit. Let me know if this has worked for anyone else, I did not know if the stage three kit was the best fit for this mod or any other adjustments that I need to make. Also if you know where to get the best price.

Thanks!
RB

Yes. I have done it. It was a lot of work tuning the carbs. I used a wideband, but you can do it by reading the plugs.

I see a perfectly good stock air box in the pic. Why would you ditch it in favor of Pods?
Don't know much about cocktail shaker mufflers but I'm sure you'll get plenty of kidney shakin from those struts.
Good luck with that.

Yup! Better plan on wearing one of these unless you know a kidney donor.

hardtail is for hardcore bikers, go for it if you must but we like basic rear suspension here. :cheer:

Pod filters, yes but be prepared for a bit of trial and error tuning. Probably up one one main jet size and tweaking the needle height as a minimum. There is a bit of a 'burning witches' mentality with some about pod filters , but I prefer them for fun bikes. For high mileage then keep it stock.

Keep in mind that the hardtail will make your bike handle like crap. Of course if you simply want to pose with it for selfies rather than actually ride it you may want to mount a pair of these too.............. ;) Ed

Didn't realize I would get this much grief for the MOCK UP. I just put those on to simulate the height of my shorty shocks without having to take them off and put back on. I I don't photo well. But back to the subject I was inquiring about.

Ah yes, the original subject. I highly recommend you use the “SEARCH” feature on this site. In the “KEYWORD” box the words KZ550 PODS, and under “SEARCH OPTIONS” in the “FIND POSTS FROM” box scroll down to and select “Any date.” Then click on SEARCH. You will then see that the subject of pods on the KZ550 has been addressed 298 times (see image below). There is plenty of information already there that should be helpful. Ed

I personally used the dyno jet kit to tune for my pods because my bike didn't have the stock air box when I got it. I can tell you, spend the money on a set of Uni filters. Forget about the cheap Emgo filters. I live at about 800 ft above sea level and do not have any tuning issues.

Uni, K&N or APE. Emgos are almost impossible to tune.
