I've been doing a lot of research on an 87 I'm trying to bring back to life, but I cant find any real documentation on the type of pistons i can use for an overbore.

First, i see there are manufacturers that offer 72mm and 73mm, but from the feedback I've been able to gather, the 73mm is not really recommended. Does anyone have negative experiences w/ this bore size?

Also, I'm eyeing over the Wiseco K1076 kit (73 & 72MM), It does not list the 1987 KZP as an applicable bike, yet there are sites selling this kit as one that fits this year... Again.. does anyone have experience with this application? Are there any other alternatives I should contemplate?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....

The kz p is a j motor, the largest overbore you can go is 1076 on the factory sleeves. After that you will need to resleeve the jug or buy an aftermarket, then bore the upper case to allow the larger sleves to fit. Boring the case has its pros and cons...

I'm nearing the end of the original sleeves... very close to 72mm.
I have to run it by the machine shop to see whether it will take to 72mm, otherwise, it's off to ebay to get a fresher block...
