About ready to remove the oil pan off my 77' KZ1000A to change out the gasket and inspect. Can I remove the oil pan without removing the engine? Looks like you can, but wanted to make sure?

Yes.In your WSM do you have orings for the oil paths inside pan cover ? You MUST locate these correctly, ZR.

I see one inside the oil pan. Is that the one your making reference too? It's a 91mm o-ring that sets inside the groove inside the oil pan? I have one on order with Z1 Ent.

That should be your filter cover oring ? The ones i am referring to would be much smaller - about 25 - 30 mm.I am not familiar with your exact model - just figured they would be similar to mine. Have you got a Manual ?

I do have a FSM. There is the Filer Cover o-ring that measures 105mm which usually comes with the oil filer. And then there's the oil pan internal o-ring that measures 91mm. I'm not aware of anymore at least associated with the oil pan.

On mine there are three small O rings around 1cm each if I remember right. I just swapped mine with one from ebay purchase. U can prob search it on ebay and find a pic, but don't forget these O rings as I think the passages channel the oil to different parts of the engine that absolutely need the lube. When u pull the pan, check the underside of the crankcase to see if they stuck up there. U can also wipe out any settled grime that sits in the bottom of the case while pan is off. At work now, else would confirm w pics.
