Buy one of these and look to see if the silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc, particles are actually embedding themselves in the valves and seats.

Great idea! I love to test and improve the knowledge base. I would have already sent you that paypal money for those parts if rich enough to afford other toys like this... Slight delay of game from recent purchases for the rebuild! Frack! Bob Sagat! Heh. I do, however, possibly have access to a microscope locally or at work. There is some time to wait before the garnet compound arrives. It would be really cool to see the surface under a scanning electron microscope, but alas I have none. Anyone on KZ have a SEM?

Actually, we are talking about particles in microns. Most microscopes work with an oil slide at 1,000x magnification.

That usb microscope only mags up a little bit. See the 1984 coin in the reviews section... Prob only 40x.

At only $25, we may get it for the kids for Yule in a couple months. I guess I can afford that much for said toy, after all I will be drinking $25 in red wine this weekend while watching the Royals win the World Series!
