Hey guys,

I have my KZ650 pretty far apart right now and want to get the most improvement as i can out of it while it's apart.

My current mods are a kerker 4>1 header, pod filters, dyna s ignition system and drag bars (I know they for offer any performance gains but it sure looks faster B) )

I was looking on a few websites and found some options. does anybody have a suggestion on a good relitively bolt on cam that will go good with my current mods?

thanks in advance!

I think all the performance cams for 650/750s are welded up stockers that are remachined. ;)
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

750 cams have more lift and duration than 650 cams.
With stock pistons your limited to what can be done.

I put a 1980 KZ750 cam in mine and picked up a little ..... 304 lift stock and 330 on the 750 cam. 10 degree's more duration too.. make sure they will work with stock pistons though ..... the 700cc piston have plenty of cut out for clearance.

The GPZ cams would be a step up but then you need to shim em and not real sure if they will work with stock pistons.

83-85 GPz cam's will be the largest factory cam's out there.

The zx cams are hotter than the earlier GPz750R1 cams although I think there are clearance issues with the earlier pistons.

Sometimes less is more, back in the day the manufacturers were at war with each other all trying to squeeze max power out of established designs. What is nice about the z650 is the strong midrange pull which is good for most road use.

Not all aftermarket cams are hard welded. I have two sets that have never been
installed. They are Andrews grinds 10 an 15.

Andrews cam's would not be NOS blank's
But yes Andrews did cast their own cam core's at one time
from what I've read.

Best I know if you want cam's for one of the Kaw. small four's
you got two choice's Webcam's or Magacam's and both will
be hardwelded on your core's.
