HI guys, I'm replacing sprockets on my 1980 kz750g twin, and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find anything smaller than a 38t sprocket(ideally a 32), that will work with a 530 chain. I searched around the forum and didn't have much luck. Can someone tell me where I might be able to find one? Thanks in advance.
Wait, I can write anything here?

I ran a 16/32 on my 750 twin for a lot of years. You have to get a custom from a place like sprocket specialties (?) and it's pricey.

Knowing what I know now, I would recommend going with a ratio of about 17 front and 35 to 36 rear. Using a 32 rear makes the chain rivets hit the rear wheel hub and the chain bangs on the swing arm.

Bountyhunter, the 1980 KZ750G uses a 16" rear tire, vs your 18". So maybe a 33-34 tooth rear would be better.

I'm running 17/37 with a 16" rear, and would like to try a 34 rear.

I recall reading that the fat 16" wheel has a diameter pretty close to the 4.00-18 used on mine? Anyway, it was closer than I would have guessed. I think the diameter on mine was s shade over 24" (?) anyway, if your wheel diameter is smaller, adjust ratios accordingly.

On mine, a 1:2 ratio with stock tire was pretty rideable even in city traffic (accelerated OK). I only weighed 160, with heavy rider or two up that ratio would be way too high.

A 34 rear would probably work fine. The only reason I am running stock rear 38T is I was too cheap to spring close to $100 for a rear sprocket back when I changed them. I do wish I had a higher gear even cruising at 55 - 60 mph on the expressway.

Unfortunately, that was probably a post by me that was wrong. I misread the chart at whatever tire company website I was looking at.

The Dunlop website shows a 130/16 being a little over 1 1/2" shorter than a 120/18 (It does not list a 110/18).

Just correcting my own mistake from years ago

The chart on this page shows it too:

www.steelthundercc.com/tiresizes.html

Says diameter of a 4.00 - 18 is 26.2" and a 130-16 is 25.6" which is only about 2.3% difference?

Here's a calculator.

www.csgnetwork.com/tiresizescalc.html

It calculates the diameter for 110-90-18 (which is what I run) to be: 25.8"

It calculates the diam of 130-90-16 to be 25.2".

2.3% difference
