sunday 11 AM, dry at last, almost sunny, the race's warm up lap is my first proper lap on the bike in two miserable days!

start flag down, careful start as i dont know how grabby the clutch is, and still i reel in quite a few guys, motor is really OK.

have to re-learn the circuit on a new bike during the race though, so there's no way I am going to have much of a fight with anybody today. the galfer pads on the stock brakes work amazingly well, and on the longest straight i hit 9000 rpm with 16/38 gearing = about 140 mph, maybe cold go faster with another tooth in the back, but otherwise gearing is not bad.

main trouble is that as i start shaving off the lap times, i find out that i am touching the belly pan on the right, get concerned that something more solid like the pipe will ground if i press more and this circuit is MOSTLY right turns....got to chill out

ended up 5th out of 8 guys in the class, could have been better i guess if weather was better in practice.

Quite a bit of things to sort out till next race April 9.

Cheers and Ciao

who am i racing against?

we are not that many in the open class, 8-10 but its national level and bikes are pretty impressive, plenty of nice kawi's

like this BMC framed kz1000

somebody better tell him that nickel/chrome plated frame is going to crack/shatter killing himself and everybody on the track! :woohoo:

well, rickman, seeley, martin and others did nickel plated frames and I never seen one cracked. Dont think the hydrogen embrittlement is a problem if you do the right process (baking, etc.)... might be different story if done by a customs shop down the street ;)

Nice result I'd say on a newly built bike!! Looking forward to more results, and it'll be nice to see the result of your tuning, my bike should be near identical.
