I took my Kerker to a muffler shop today. they said they couldn't alter the bend at the collector. it wouldnt fit into there bender as 1 piece. they could only bend a straight piece of pipe.
Mark, do you want the "how to" for pipe bending or the "calculations" for header length?
Anything u have to help complete this thread would be great.
in the end i would like to know if building a pipe is in my grasp.

Thanks. I think it will be interesting to compare these pipes to each other and to todays tech.

Mark, here is what I came up with. All measurements taken with a tape held in the center of each pipe radius.
Outer Primaries: 30" 1.5" o.d.
Inner Primaries: 31" 1.5" o.d.
Collector Length: 4.75"
Megaphone Length: 27.75" 3" o.d.
I also came up with rough bend numbers on the megaphone. 27 degree bend at 11.875" from one end, and another 27 degree bend at 4.5" from the other end. Here's a pic, and let me know if you need more specific info. I also have a V/H pipe if you'd like some measurements from it.
I also read about using a ball mandrel for bending performance exhausts. Would be a must for this type of thing I imagine. Here's a link to a good article........

mark,
just catching up to thread now....oil change no problem...if you change on kickstand, everything drains away as pipe collector runs on right side and filter can be removed with a minimal of finangling..
i still have the black kerker that came on bike(its in a heap of junk in shed)but i remember it crossed underneath bike and made things a little more messy......
Thanks Keith, and John.
That denco looks like it has long primaries.
Kieth , does the V&H have to be removed for an oil change? it reminds me of the race Kerker.
anyone have a good pic of the Kereker race pipe?

Thats great Eric. Thanks. here are my Street KerKer #s. this is for the 1 that has access to the oil filter.
I used a string to follow the bends and then measured the string.
Primary ID = 1 3/8" od = 1.5"
prim #1 = 34"
#2,3 = 35"
#4 = 33"
collector ID= 2 5/16" OD = 2.5"
length of taper is 5", to end of collector is another 9.5"
slip on starts @ 2.5" od ,and widens to 3" od at the bend . 7" long to bend.
3" to 4" OD. 12" long from bend to to end.
total length of slipon megaphone is 19".
At a glance it looks like the Yosh would favour top end compared to the street Kerker. yosh has shorter primaries and larger collector pipe. I will read that tube bending pg and get back to u. Thanks .
OK now u just have to teach me how to put lines and # on a pic. what program do u use? Thats great.
And John , u have to teach me how to put a collage (spell)together.
