Fall is quickly approaching. Took the KZ out with my two buddies today for a 120 mile up in the high country and back.
1450 miles on the fresh top end overhaul... all good.

Wow, 1400 miles already?
Taking a ride tomorrow to my daughter's place. 100 miles one way. Should be good for it. FWY's, interchanges, mountain climb and high elevation. Not as much green as you guys have but it will be fun.
Besides, I want to see their faces when they hear her.
Is your exhaust note lower like mine. It'd have to be.

Yes 1450 and something miles already...
Yes the whole engine sounds different to me... a slightly lower midrange tone with a lower pitched "Indy Car" yowl when WOT! When going through the mountain tunnels here... I let it rip in 2nd or 3rd gear!!! It cracks the other guys up.... especially when I rocket by them 45mph faster then they were just going a few seconds ago... LOL.

That's great. You still need to hear that zzzzzip in the exhaust. That's when you are making the ponies. B)

Haven't let it rip past about 7500rpm-8000rpm very much yet... It is very strong though.
But, I think it is running leaner then when I started. I'm using the #20 pilot jets and 115 mains.
Plug tips are pretty white and only very very light white'ish tan down deep in the insulator pocket. And that is looking at them with a 4x lens.

Also I noticed today something I've not had happen.... at about 85mph-90mph on the open freeway.... the engine burbles and looses power if I "unsqueeze" the tank and air filters with my thighs and knees at this speed.
I get a weird thing like a lean out or there's major turbulence messing up the mixture. It is VERY noticeable.
I might need to put my old air box back on and run the single element filter.

Yes on the air box. It will lean out once it starts building compression. You may need to go with 125 mains. That's what I had to do early on with my 28's. I was still running out of fuel at high speed so I went with larger seats in the bowls. You may need bigger carbs.

Yes, Fall is in the air B)

I love this weather but it sucks that the days are getting shorter especially when your bike is running so good.

In the last few years I have rode a lot of miles with no major problems but by the end of the season she has always been in need of major maintenance. bottom end, top end, electrical, tires etc....
Now that pretty much everything has been replaced I will have an easy Winter.
Still hope to put on a couple thousand more before we pack it up.
I took a solo ride tonight and had a very close call with three White tail deer when I was coming around a curve on a river road doing 60,
Thank God deer hate the sound of my bike, when I chop the throttle, they turned 180 in a heart beat, the first two would have ran right in front of me , I passed them doing around 35-40, that would have hurt :woohoo:
Beside that the ride was good and the bike loves the cool air B)

Very nice. The bike is still in good shape? Summer is starting to brake here. Not without a fight. 108 today. Two more weeks. The desert is a good place to come to during the winter.
This is were I rode to. Not as nice as where you have.

I'll be 61 10/01. Didn't think I'd make it this far. Almost didn't a few times. So what's the plan, that's what I wanna know.
