My son just turned me onto two series of 8 one-hour long episodes detailing the preparation and ride by Ewan McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman from London to New York the eastern route through Russia etc. the next trip was John O'Groats to Capetown.

I was totally riveted....the two series are "The Long Way Round"and "The Long Way Down" I caught them on Netflix but they may be available elsewhere.

At first I thought it would be a bit Hollywood but not so....they totally redefine the word "Adventure" and their ride along the Road of Bones (a road that claimed 20 million Russian lives) in eastern Russia has to be seen.
