The 900LTD started the Japanese cruiser party and was considered a bold move back then. Today, it's really conservative, basically a standard with a special seat. The "fat" rear wheel goes almost unnoticed these days. Still a great look B)

Personally, I lust for a heavily upgraded classic with modern suspension, brakes and wheels. I also think the rearsets and cut-down seat looks much better, both on the bike and especially with a rider fitted, than the old sit-up-and-beg position.

However, I would rather own and ride a real classic because my knees doesn't take kindly to being folded up and an aggressive riding position combined with good handling brings out the speed demon in me. Which tend to end with a crash far too often. I'm tired of hospitals and pain, getting too old for such antics.

I too would dig taking a souped up 900 on a nice course, but maintenance and the fact that I'm mortal make me prefer the stocker.

Maybe change up the suspension and brakes but keep the stock parts.

Brakes are fine - poor man's ABS  Suspension on my 650 is surprisingly decent, and you can upp the comfort as well as control on the older fork designs (Z1/900/1000 and 400/440/750 twins) by drilling out the compression holes in the dampers with a 1/4" drill bit and use between 20W and 30W fork oil depending on temperatures were you ride and how hard you ride. Play with fork oil level to make action softer or firmer, especially over the final 1/3 of travel. On my 400 twin, I drilled the damper and upped the oil level about an inch from stock with 25W fork oil and up with an excellent front end that was supple yet controlled and bottoming never happened.
