Did I miss a thread, has someone picked up the gauntlet for the 3rd leg yet?

Our leg starts in Mississippi and ends in Chicago, someone needs to step up to organize the next set of states if this thing is to keep moving as best as can be expected to get it to the west coast.

Indeed I have. I'll post a route later this evening and put BERT75 on the map. I have to go to work now.

We need someone to move to No. Dakota. I was just there last summer and it's a lovely place with lots of work ;) ..... Anybody???? Is anyone listening? We have a huge hole in the Dakotas and in west Texas. Volunteers?

Just an FYI for anyone looking to join in on the 3rd leg;
3rd Leg

We (Leg#2) are still in need of a rider for the stretch between Pittsburgh and the Canadian border. You don't need to do all of it, doing any part of it would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think he can travel that far north, some part of the distance but not all the way. Are you planning on coming into the states Tek? If so how far south?

toad, i added u to the google map. we ,ontario rides have been chatting about the route. no need to get into to much detail this early but u can Talk with jack and work something out. the next question will be, where it goes after u ? so far the next closest guy is harm in Holland mi. so u could chat with him.

here is a link to the map

maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=21053298151...msa=0&mid=1331303910

does someone have a link to the leg map ? are we still looking at the map on the first post of this thread? where does leg 2 stop and 3 start ? at bluej58 ?

The map is pretty much correct except for Canada, I'm letting those guys sort the who to who as they know who is actually closer by road than by as the eagle flies.

Toad can either take the flag from Jack or he can ride with Jack, it's up to them. I'd suggest he contact Jack and then take into account that it is to go to Harm at some place in Michigan.

Bluej58 is Leg#2's last relayer. He is also the start of Leg#3 which has its own thread here on KZR.

Hope that answered more questions than made them!

I see this has started. Les, I could probably ride your way and we could meet in the middle, then perhaps take some decent roads down to Columbus to meet ramtough. Then we could find some decent roads to head back towards Indy. bwringer (from GSR) would probably be willing to come along to show us some fun roads, he knows a bunch.
I haven't contacted steell yet about hooking up with him, but I could always slab it up to Fort Wayne.

Really a shame there isnt anyone in eastern canada for the eastern leg. Im talking primarily the maritimes (ns, nb, pei) and newfieland. I saw T_Dub was in NFLD but there is no one between us and ontario haha. No frenchers ride KZ's? or is it Z de K haha. im not hating! Quebec has some of the best beer haha 8.5%

if the flag is traveling east of ontario I wouldnt mind seeing an updated map!I checked the eastern leg and its all ontario. so really it should be called the central leg haha

Well, I just had lunch with Brian Wringer (bwringer on GSR) and told him what we are doing. I asked and he accepted to be our guide on the day les holt and I get the flags. For those of you who do not know him, a bit of history. He runs the yearly GSR Brown County Rally. He knows southern Indiana like the back of his hand. He is unbelievable smooth and fast, even on a lowly GS850. He also owns a KLR650 if the group requires him to ride a Kawasaki. He is, overall, just one heck of a guy.
So, anyone in group 2, specifically (but not exclusively) RAMTOUGH_63, ANDY9802gt, les holt, and KZ_Rage, want to enjoy a day of absolutely awesome twisties, be sure to attend.

I'll answer the last question first: there has only been one handoff in one week, and that is only the first Eastern group. We are the second Eastern group. So I suspect it will be a while.

Now, about riding group style in the twisties. We require that every rider ride at a pace they are comfortable with. This is known as The Pace. If you get behind, we don't care. We stop at both stop signs and turns and wait for everyone to catch up. If we grow concerned, the group will backtrack until we find you.
We had one rider that rode at what we called "Stop and Smell the Roses" pace. We did not care. For larger groups we break up into groups that ride at roughly the same pace, but our group is too small. If required, I will lead the slower group, although I personally prefer to keep Brian in sight because I can pace myself to his speed. We will also be stopping for photo opportunities, such as covered bridges and quaint spots, which allows everyone to regroup and share lies, I mean experiences. It is a good time, I assure you.
The last requirement is that every rider is ATGATT. If you show up and you are not, we will respectfully ask you to not proceed any further. Well, we will actually tell you to go home. We do not compromise on this requirement. At all.
