9am53 wrote: Hey mark, if you have never ridden up 41 it's a nice trip. I think from cobourge to eganville and back would be a longish day, but doable if you have a good seat, or you could turn back at Bon Echo (which is unfortunately around where the road gets nice).

My kz has pros and cons in the comfort area. it has an uncomfortable zrx seat and rearsets, but with a 1200cc motor i have to stop a lot for gas anyways. lol

I can only imagine the fuel economy!

When I did the mild work on my KZ (just some cams, pods and carb richening) I got more power of course, but I had to fill up way more. I went to the CVMG meet in milton from my place at the time in Camden East (north of Napanee), I had to fill up at the ultramar in Cobourg, then again in pickering, and then got to milton on fumes. This was travelling at 140 with a zx6, coming back I hung back to save on gas money (120km/h) and actually made it from milton to port hope before filling up, and then made it all the way home from there. I guess you godda pay the cost to be the boss though!

My KLR650 OTOH got me from Camden East to the Paris swap meet on one tank :) It again OTOH is really slow on the highway, with my current gearing and my 315 pounds hiding behind the fairing I can get to 145 km/h :)

Anyways, we will figure it out when the time comes! I can't wait

I hate to ask but can you stuff me in between ramtough and koolaid? Talked it over with the little woman and were going to keep this bike so I'll definitely have one to ride. I'm flexible on time and route so any way will work.
Thanks

Les

North of terra haute about 45 miles and west of Indy about 50 Miles. Kingman is the town we live closest to. Were only 10 to 15 minutes from turkey run state park. Some pretty good riding around that area.

Thanks Mark

North Bay is a bit of a haul, although we'd meet up half way somewhere.
Maybe some more KZ riders will join in in the area.
I've sent out messages to all the KZ owners in Ontario, some who are currently not members of KZR.

This is good for me! I can hop over the border and pickup from Cobura at either Buffalo NY/Niagara Falls NY, wherever best for him. Then (as mapped) bring it up to Drooz in Mississauga.

Mark, probably can tie you into Koolaid Kids section easiest. Let me know how far you are comfortable riding as KK's section is to pick up the flag from Ramtough then take it to ANDY9802GT. You could take it from Ramtough then to KK possibly or buddy ride either or both sections of that part of the relay.

From Ramtough to KK is about what I figured also and maybe get in some buddy riding. I'm the johnny come late so I don't want to short them any if you know what I mean.

Thanks Rage

If you mean Lebanon In. they use to have some real nice stuff, know quite a few old Kaws used to hang over there as well. March 18th may be close on finishing up on mine but could skip the tear down for powdercoat and make it shakedown run. I'd could be up for that for sure! Probably be a couple guys I use to work with and rode with there.

Jim (RageZro) just pointed me to this thread. Seems like I could meet with either ramtough or les holt, I don't really care. If les were taken out of the equation for a moment I would meet ramtough around the Columbus area, head home, and then make arrangements to meet andy9802gt in Fort Wayne. Steell lives up that way also, I may be able to persuade him to tag along on the handoff. Last time I talked to him his bike was not running, but that may have changed by now. And buddy riding is fine also, it would be nice since the bike, though wrenched on thoroughly, is still 30 years old. It's a GPz, but it is KZ-based so I should be fine as far as participating in a KZ rally.
Currently I am open as far as time. As the date approaches, of course, things may change.

I believe we can figure something out. I don't visit here very often, so I have asked Jim to keep me informed. Sounds to me like it is a couple of months away, but perhaps I am being a pessimist. My GPz is just a KZ on steroids, 8 valves and all.

Actually, I have been called a gorilla on a unicycle when riding the KZ, but the KLR actually fits me really well. It's only a 650 engine, but its a big bike!

They are big bikes. A friend has one and I find it intimidating, at best. At 6'1" and 250 lb., I am not a tiny person myself. I saw him sling his leg up, across, then over, the seat. I pass, myself.

Back to the rally, still waiting on a response from Les. A "buddy" ride is fine, we just need to figure out where to meet when this finally goes down.

Sorry koolaid, I had read your post earlier but have been looking at the route and I figured I could slip in there some where and was waiting to see how things get when we are closer to it going down.
