Don't forget the Canadian provinces, and Mexico maybe too?
Wonder if a separate Canadian Coast to Coast to Coast relay may work easier for all.

how do you put yourself on the map?

I think you'll need a Google account to edit the map. If you don't have or don't want a Google account, PM me your state and I'll add you to the map.

You have to be logged in to Google. Then click "edit" button (left hand column near the top). Then right click (ctrl click mac) on your city and choose "add placemark". Enter your kzrider id in the description so we'll know who you are.

Or, if you can't do it, just pm me.

Is there a way to show a red dot for each rider so you can look at the map and see all the states that are represented at the same time? Ed

Mine shows blue on the map, but I haven't really played with the settings to see if they can be turned red.

Oh, I wasn't complaining about the color, I don't see any dots at all. Blue would be great if I could see them. The only indication I get of anyone on the map is if I happen to move the cursor across an area where someone has apparently put some data, then I get the clickable hand. If I click it I then get a cloud with the person's ID and comment; but I see no dots. Do you need to be logged on to Google to see them? Ed

I have that problem in Internet Explorer on Windows Vista. If I view it in Google Chrome or Firefox the markers show up.

Seems like an Internet Explorer/Google Maps bug.

I'm also hoping some of the North East states are small enough that some one can cover more than one.

It might be a good idea to pick an end point and work back from there. Maybe a vintage motorcycle rally somewhere?

Seems like we need a task force in charge of the object and a half dozen or so regional coordinators for the route. And someone needs to be the Relay Czar to herd all these cats.

650ed this was your idea. What do you think?

I was hoping it could be coordinated as a group thing on this site. It might help make things clearer when we have mapped all participants. Then it may be easier to map out an overall route and identify which participants can cover each leg of the route. Ending at a vintage bike show would be cool, but I suspect that as participants schedules vary picking an end date might prove difficult. Ed

If we're going west-east, then I'd be the last guy I guess, unless we have a separate Canadian rally, then I'd be first or last.

Seems like the Google map markers are finally working and visible. Before I could only see a person's location if I were to left clicked on their name in the left panel. I see nine people so far. Hopefully the pool of riders will grow quickly. I would guess it would require at least 2 riders, with some separation, for the average sized state. I would estimate about a 100 riders for the lower U.S. would be ideal. With Canada in play, it will require double the riders. Their distances would be even greater for each province.

OK, I put my mark on the map, can relay from any border of Ohio to any other border of the state. If Indiana or Kentucky doesn't get a relayer, then since there are a few of us in Ohio, I'd be willing to take it from one of the other Ohio runners to run across those states to the next person if that helps fill some voids.

Oh and to add some "color" to this, maybe the two relayers can take their photo together in front of the town sign, like the one here for example.
