You are on the map Tri. Your pin is set to Salinas, Ca. Looks like you've been on since September 2011. So you're all set. Check it out.

That is a good analogy. It is kind of like watching the Pony Express, isn't it? :cheer:

Tri definitely needs to be in on the relay because he was the inspiration behind it! He planted the seed when he posted his "anyone here have a bike that runs?rode this month?" thread. Ed

In that case, maybe he should be the one to carry the flag on last leg to that beautiful coast he lives at as a tribute? You deserve a lot of credit too Ed.

Speaking of Southern California...

Some of you have heard this, but there's a movement afoot to get a story about the relay in the official "Riders of Kawasaki" magazine.

One thing their editor suggested was that when know more about the arrival in Southern California we work with Kawasaki's PR dept. to arrange a stop at the corporate office and a tour of the motorcycle museum.

I might fly out to California for that if we can make it happen.

Ramtough brings up a good point for multiple bike owners. If a ZRX is all you have that's fine but if you have a KZ400 and a ZRX the KZ400 should be ridden if you are to carry the flag. The flag was delivered to me on a KZ400 (boostable sold his KZ after he had possession of the flag so he got a guy with a KZ400 to ride with him).

I would rather a ZRX than a USPS truck. These bikes are old so having a chase truck is not a bad idea for the longer distance riders. A lot of guys are doing shake down runs in the relay because they just got it running last night. :)

Cool by me. Good point RamTough. I say let him ride, if everyone else is cool wit it.
Yep, let's try to keep it to a minimum if at all possible. So far, my KZ is running good at the moment, but things may change any day. I also ride ZRXs and that would be my fall back bike if it came to that just to get the flag moving across the nation.

Hey we have to remember the KZ was snubbed out by the GPZ which in turn became the Ninja then on to the ZRX. So technically a ZRX is as a KZ's spawn.

I was wondering where the end was, Did not know if it was going all the way to Socal. All I know is I am so in. It would be cool to have a big party at the end and have members fly in that can. What ya say Tri, A trip down the coast? I am a few hours from you to the east.

To save yourself a read, hop over to VintageKawasakiRelay.com

There is no "plan" or "schedule". I stepped up to coordinate the first leg and get her up the East Coast.

Other's have stepped up to help with other legs. This is a "stone soup" endeavour.

Unlikely it will make it by summer Tri. More like December. I wouldn't even attempt to read the threads. Its overwhelming. Best to look at the photo essay in the Ride reports section ( Relay Photos ). You can see how far its come and who has carried it. I guess if you are the last rider, the questions becomes; what happens to the flag? Maybe you can put it in glass bottle with a cork and throw it into the Pacific Ocean off of Big Sur   . Anybody know if the currents will take it to Japan?

Good question about what to do with the flag at the the end. I would think sending it to the rider who rode the farthest might be fair to reward his/her commitment to the relay. Ed

my thoughts are to make a photo book (my girls Daughter is a photographer and does it for weddings etc...) and put the flag with it and auction it on ebay for charity.

of course I think there may ba a real coffe table book of this journey with some of the photography ED took and I am sure others will who knows maybe we will find a publisher lol
