It seems that whenever Schuss is available I have had other commitments - don't blame him though. We have waited 2 years for it to get here and now that we are having monsoon rains and temps in the 40's everyone wants it to move. I'll try to go get it next week when it dries up if Schuss is willing.

yeah its hard to commit or meet up when you only have like years notice...what do people expect...

and that is only since jan 1st

Don't kill me, but you must admit that the flag sitting still since Labor Day puts a bit of a damper on things. That is 235 days or 33+ weeks. It is understandable that folks have other commitments that take priority, but perhaps if the commitment load is that overwhelming it would be better to have someone else carry the flag. Ed

You guys think I'm keeping the flag because I want to hoard it? I am so done with this whole thing, i regret being any part of it and I'm never doing anything like this again. I have taken days off work that got wasted, I have cancelled other plans for rides that never happened, and I have sent countless messages and emails that got ignored. I don't see any of you whiners riding up here to pick it up. Toolmaker and Motorhead are the only ones that even respond to me when I've tried to schedule with them, and we are doing our best to meet up and move it on.

You want to come get it? You want me to mail it to someone? Want me to give it a viking funeral and spread its ashes down the 405? I don't care what you people decide, I just want this whole thing over with. But if you aren't helping shake riders out of the woodwork or otherwise helping the relay move, your complaining is not welcome.

I just want to give it away and sell this bike and be done with all the stress and unpleasantness now associated with it. There is nothing fun about this anymore, I see the angry messages on the forum and I wish I had never participated. So if you're trying to make me feel shitty about it, congrats, you win.

I understand where you are coming from, don't let the "Negative Nancys" get to you. You got stuck with the flag for winter if it would not have been you it would have been someone else. Sorry this whole thing turned out to be a downer for you.

As for those of you with nothing but negative out put, try empathy for once. Until it is you with the flag trying to get it moving you do not know what it is like. No one wants to be the reason it is stalled. So let's man up a bit and try and get Schuss some help. It is "OUR" relay flag OUR responsibility. I love this forum and it's plethora of knowledge. Yet I have never encountered so much child like activity out of grown men.

Wow! I can't speak for others, but you took my posting all wrong! I am sorry you got stuck holding the flag, and even more sorry that this relay has become a downer for you. My comments were prompted by seeing where the guy who is suppose to meet you said "some of us have jobs..." in describing why he didn't have time to get the flag. If the job is so demanding that he couldn't meet up with you in 8 months, well no offense intended to anyone, but it just seems to me that perhaps another volunteer may have had more free time to meet you and get the flag. I'm not busting anyone's balls, I'm just being realistic. Let's face it, if it took 8 months for each of the lower 48 states the relay would take 32 years. That doesn't mean it's your fault. How were you to know the person who you're suppose to give it to was going to be too busy to meet you? I'm just surprised that there's no one else anywhere near you who could pick up the flag and move it along; I thought there were more motorcyclists on the west coast. But again, that is not your fault. Ed

I totally get how you feel -- and I only got stuck with it for 5 weeks while all the guys down the line blew me off, and I read helpful post after helpful post. In fact, your quote above looks just like one of mine from last summer. Hang in there. I'm not going to "suggest" anything. Just hang in there.

It's my fucking bike and it is the same type I've always had...I dont ride it 600 miles in a day and never have...i ride it like i stole it then i fix whatever broke from riding it this hard...

this ride was only about riding over to the next closest dude by you taking a picture or two and some pictures of where you live and ride and maybe buying the guy a beer and handing him the flag......
