I bet it was pretty fast for its time,especially with the drum brakes on both ends!

here are some mods from the day.

Those are from the days where each bike had character. No cookie-cutter bikes. You could look at these bikes and pick up ideas to use on your own bike. And it didn't take a million dollars to run one either. Those were good times...

I seen Russ Collin's triple run at Edgewater Park many years ago when it only had a 6" tire on the rear(I think that was the size) and needless to say, it left a black mark all the way from starting line through the traps. Used a crane to unload it from his box van hauler. Back then that van was high tech....look at the rigs nowadays.... Wished I could of heard the triple triple run....bet that was a sound you would never forget!

Remember reading a story where a magazine interviewing Russ Collins asking about a scatter-shield on his triple in case it blew up. He said he had one...it was made out of skin and hair!

I like that #6 prostock 79 KZ1000MKII. I never saw a pro MKII so don't know where it ran, but that is cool. I remember AMA superbike MKII bikes 30+ years ago and wow, what an inspiration for a guy who owned a matching streetbike at that time.

New thing in Top Fuel ...
