Coming into this rather late, but here are some updates to my current personal project. Much has been done leading up to this point and my imgur albums are scattered about, but here are links to the pics, currently needs chain, electrical buttoned up, and a seat, but making good progress, the most recent update being the exhaust in its raw form (will be ceramic coated and wrapped once I smooth the mig welds.)

They are VM32s with twin stage unis. The bike fires up but immediately rockets up in idle and i have to kill it. Needs much jetting work, but I'm not sure where to start as I am using a base jetting for a buddy who is running VM34s. I think off th etop of my head the mains are 200 or 195...something fierce....Any advice?

I no experience with them but i have been pondering the vm34 swap down the road for my twin, so im not much help here. That sounds like it might be a vacuum leak. are guys running these on their xs 650's? if the are find out what jetting they are running and maybe go from there. where did you get those carb holders?
