So after almost 2 years of no bike (accident, story another time) my fiance raised some money and I was able to get a Kz1000p for Christmas.

My inspiration for the bike is one done by bare bones rides.

The plan is to do motocross pegs in mid control configuration, motocross bars, zx10r tail, and a few other odds and ends after fixing and/or replacing the electrical.

This is gonna be a long time project, but figured post and get some opinions, tips, ideas.

Thanx for checking out

Welcome to KzRider Jonnygoat,
You picked a good bike for inspiration. There are quite a few of us working on these great bikes at the moment.
The electrical looks like a mess. Mine is bare bones by comparison.
Good luck with your project.

Looks like a good platform for a build. As mentioned, there are several KZP owners around here. Their bikes range from restored to like new, to heavily modified. Don't be bashful about asking for help and opinions. There is plenty of both on the forum.
Sounds like you have a good woman as well. Keep her happy and the build, and life in general, will go much more smoothly.

Thanks! Yeah, a friend of mine is helping with the electrical situation. Is there much difference between the normal and the police versions of this bike? Chasing gremlins and would love to get rid of unnecessary wires and plugs.

The Mrs is loves riding and knows what it means to me. I definitely owe her so suggestions on how to pay her back as well as fixing the bike are greatly appreciated lol

Got what I hope to be all the electrical gremlins out this week. With the help of a buddy, traced out wires there were loose.

Next step in that department is to simplify it.

Pro taper time! Installed the bars after work today. Once everything was all together, went to fire it up and throttle was stuck open! After going over everything, turned out to be a bolt from a carb holder keeping it from closing fully. Fixed the problem and realized I wasn't getting full throttle range this whole time! Now this bike feels quick! wave bye bye to those ugly bars!
