My buddy Dan brought me his LTD thats been in his living room for the last two years to clean up and put back together for him.


1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

Dan had split the case to replace the shift drum and had one bolt break so I try'd doing te weld a nut to trick
but couldn't get enough heat in it to free it so had to drill and then Heli-coil it.


I think for having 48,000 mile's the trans looks great.

This morning got the frame all wire brushed and sprayed with rust converter.
That stuff looks like clear coat when you spray it on.

I found Tremclad Rust paint in semigloss available at Home Depot a very close match for touching up the frame.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

By time I got that done Dan came over and we got the bolt issue taken care of and the case's back together.
Still need to torque everything but it's in one piece now. over look the shop I'm still moving in.

That's my bike and I'm really happy to have Dave pushing to get it together. He doesn't mess around and I trust him to help me get it done right. He's not letting me cut any corners so I think it's gonna be way cleaner than I had planned. I'm not complaining.

Plan for tonight is get the motor finish cleaned and some paint on it and another coat on the frame.
Thinking we should be able to get the motor in Thursday and fire it up Sat.or Sunday.

Last night got the motor cleaned up and painted.



Tonight I got the finish coat of paint on the frame it'll need to sit a few days before we put the motor
so time to clean and paint the small parts.
