Huh?

Looks like the bike is at the start of a big project? I just pray it won't end up as another spray bomb flat black primer job "bobber" or "café". I'm truly starting to hate that trend.

I have respect for these R1 / L3-4's. Classic sports bikes of the beginning of the best era of "Superbikes". Not many left out there, and the bike world will morn the loss when they are mostly all gone forever, so I hope the plan is restoration or at least a performance custom that maintains the classis look, lines, and feel.....

Looks like some work there. Does it run? What are your plans for it?

Where are you located? Edit: I just noticed the non-US rear fender.

Please don't hack it up. The R1 is getting very rare. If you like mods feel free but please leave anything you do reversible. I had no idea about the uniqueness of the R1 when I bought mine but was schooled very quickly on here so I changed my plans for it. I've been having fun using recycled parts to modify it and make it my own and still keep the original "spirit".

I had it almost where i wanted it mechanically without taking the engine down 2 months ago.

Then I put it down when I got some dirt on my rear tire turning left at a stop sign and hit the crosswalk paint. Onward and upward.

Some bikes used the same, similar or interchangeable parts: GPz1100, GPz1000 ELR, KZ750E, KZ750L, KZ750P (GT750/Shaft), KZ700A.

Many of the air/oil cooled ZR7 parts will also interchange including a complete engine swap if needed.

If you get your hands on a KZ550 or ZX550 6 speed gear set it will fit in the crankcase. Guess what I have planned?
