Ok well got the bike home to where it is going to live till its back on its own wheels again, after tear down its not as bad as expected.
Concerns I do have are finding some parts that broke or were not there.
Both side covers are gone
Both front and rear master cyc. For brakes are cracked or leak.
Cables all but one were broke so I'll have to find them
The berrings for the swing arm don't look like they have seen greases since it was new. The front steering head they came out in many pecies so they need to be replaced.
Seat pan
Keys
Otherwise
In decent shape. Want to take the paint off and repaint or powder coat it
Same with the motor
And the controls I haven't gotten apart yet but they don't feel good its locked in the run position on the cut off switch.

The triple trees where the bars mount all the bolts but one snapped off.
Speedo and tack don't look bad but not sure they can be saved yet but plant to try

With 17k or just over I hope to use as many parts as I can and repaint.

Best thing to do is open a photobucket or flickr account and host all your photos there. Then you can cut and paste the IMG address here and the photos will show up in high resolution.

You can attach photos here but there is a limit on size. If you go this route PLEASE be sure to "insert" all your photos otherwise they show up here in the form of a (annoying as hell) thumbnail.

Regarding the work needed, all sounds routine.

All Balls sells a steering head bearing kit.

OEM Kawasaki cables are best and fresh cables are a thing of beauty. Be sure to grease the clutch actuation helix mechanism since that's often overlooked (along with the swingarm bearings like you have discovered).

Side covers are all over ebay. Master cylinders are too, only finding an original that's not corrosion pitted in the bore area is not easy. I put an EX650 master on my 750E. They are cheap and easy to find, and being late model you don't have to worry about internal corrosion. For the rear master all I can say is good luck. Most you will find are corroded on the inside.

Right now the rear is very cloudy and might be savable. But not holding my breath.
The front the screw heads are pretty much gone so can't even get in to it with out drilling I'm thinking.
But have soaked them with some PB Blaster to attempt to get them freed up.

I know a rebuild is a complete given
Not looking for a show bike here it will be a rider. I suppose I could go with a diffrent master from something for that reason.
I know I need the lines all thoug they still had pressure to them I just won't use them. Rather have new.

Yea the OEM cables are nice I used to build them years ago working at a local shop but they are never the same as OEM and well lubed.

Calipers I haven't got the Pistons freed up completely yet. So haven't seen the bore on them yet but the paint is in good shape and so are the pads so might have a chance to save them still

On the steering and swing arms
Do you have a part number or size ?

Have a trip to Ia coming up so once back I'll sand blast the frame. And clean everything I can up on it and start to put her back togeather.

Any suggestions on paint that holds up?
Not sure on powder coating right now.
Might just paint it and go from there.

I can do either rattle can or lphv spray gun both work.
As of the ideas right now it will be a black /silver frame with a crimson sunflower red on it. But that depends how well it turns out also. That's one of those paints looks really good but body work has to be extremely clean or it will show

Oh hell yea!! I have hated that thing since he put it on. Told him I wanted to burn the hideous thing when I saw it as a kid lol
When I got it I took it off nicely invade someone wants one. But won't be on my bike. Lol
