I bought this bike last year to replace my 83 Honda GL1100 Goldwing Aspencade. I wanted a more sporty inline 4 bike and luckily stumbled across this one. So far it runs and rides but does need a bit of work to be in good riding shape. Eventually I want to totally rebuild it back to showroom condition but as I don't have the cash for that right now I am going to start with getting it in good mechanical shape first.
As of now this is what I will be doing before riding it.
1. Rebuild Carbs, this includes new diaphragms because 2 of them have holes in them. Also replace the carb to air box boots because they are rock hard.
2. Check valve clearances and adjust if needed.
3. Rebuild front calipers(They work good but the left side caliper is slowly seeping around the piston seal)
3. Check the front and rear master cylinders as well as rear caliper and rebuild if necessary.
4. Replace brake lines with stainless braided brake lines
5. Troubleshoot and fix the speedometer(Odometer works but not the speedo)
6. Check forks and rear shocks for air and seal leaks and rebuild or replace if necessary
7. Replace the awful handlebars with some that aren't beach bars
8. Add a small windshield
9. Add Dyna Beads to tires
10. Replace diff fluid in the shaft drive and grease the splines

Hopefully that will be all for now until I can afford to really restore it.
I only have one picture of the bike right now but I will get some more soon, and I will take more as I go.

These are picture I pulled offline of what it would look like new stock. Either Gold and black or Gold, red and black.

Great looking bike Sleepy! It has always been my favorite styling by Kawasaki and it's comfortable too!
Looking forward to seeing more.

That will be a great project. Love the red and black colour scheme.

Thanks guys. I hope I can get it up and running soon so I can ride it a bit this year. Over this winter I will probably tear it down and start the restore. This is one of my favorite classic bikes so I want to make it nice and keep it no matter how many other bikes I get in the future. I'm Still not sure if I want to go with the black and gold only or the black, red and gold. The black and gold kind of reminds me of the trans am from smoky and the bandit.
