Thought I would post on my 86 KZ100P build I am in the process of building. Found this poor abused girl hiding in a shabby barn, was tortured by its PO, wiring chopped, nasty stuff all over it. We was willing to part ways for a few hundred so I dug her out and had to drag it 150 yards to my truck to bring it home, he had a pit bull who liked to use it for a chew toy. I let him keep the fairing and boxes they were cracked and beat but he felt they were worth a grand. Here she is after undressing the tank and other nasty pieces.

After clean off the odometer I found she had just over 37,000 on the clock, odometer works so I trust it is original, title for it shows 34, 828. The bike had been sitting up since 1995. Hooked up a battery and got her to crank over compression was averaging 115 between all cylinders so that was a good sign.

Some inspiration for you (if any is needed). For some reason I always share this link if someone is starting a P build.

Thanks Davido, I have looked over that build, and many more, I am taking this one into a different direction. I plan to build the rear tail section out of metal and rivets, my background is military aviation, H-60 Blackhawks. I do love metal fabrication. Here are a few more pics of the teardown. Everything looks so much better in pictures, seeing it in person and you notice all the rust grime and crap

Here is the engine after a Freshing up, new seals gaskets, valve lapping, cam chain and rings. Engine showed very little wear, spent 2 weeks on the rebuild, checked everything and so I think I have a nice tight engine. Not sure on the black side covers, may polish them afterall.

Here is the wiring harness, spent another 2 weeks sorting out the chop job, replaced all connectors with new pieces from vintage connectors. New bullet connectors. I must have cut out 2 lbs of excess wiring, powered up the wiring and all looks good. Now new wiring covers are in order.

Nice pretty frame. All detabbed and cleaned up. Stripped to the bare metal, built a soak tank to remove all the rust. Primed and painted in my home made paint booth. Not to bad of a job.

Sorry about the pictures, can't figure out why they are turned around like that.
