:woohoo: nice and it's only $1200 and takes a mere 3 months to shop! It is a beautiful tank though.

$1200 could buy a good 2nd hand TIG and a lot of aluminum sheet.

Ohhh ya I didn't even think about that. I may have to give that a shot some day.

Yes indeed! Or one could buy 4 aluminum BSA tanks and have money left over (see link). Maybe the shop that makes the BSA tanks should start making Kawasaki tanks! Ed

Agreed. I recently got outbid on one on fleabay and have given up hope on finding a reasonably priced Z1R tank. Sad part is I am actually in Japan and finding them here is almost impossible unless you are willing to spend 1000+ US dollars. I did pick up a nice Z1B tank that should arrive soon.

Sadly I have access to old BSA, Triumph, and Moto Guzzi parts..... none of which will fit the tunnel and I am not interested in leakdown or pressure testing tanks. This is not a test of engineering skill, this is a build for a bike that I can beat the hell out of and not worry about the thing coming apart at 100+. If anyone is interested in a 1965 BSA / 1994 RF900 amalgamation let me know and I will send pics. Likewise, if anyone is kind enough to part with a Z1R tank for less than 300 let me know.

Just playing with parts, but it helps to determine what part of the seat we will keep and the length that we want for the body. Tank and tail are off a neighbors bike and is sitting there while his carbs are being rebuilt...ugly paint.

I thought I would share another project while waiting to complete another installment of the Oni build. This is my fathers 1965 BSA Lightning that has the front and rear off of a RF900. This bike is awesome and incredibly comfortable. You wont be keeping up with the crotch rockets, but with the large tires and wide bars you don't require the brakes much. The right side shifter takes a little getting used to.
