Also managed to get five mins in today and pop the top off the motor. Bummer, two bolts shared straight off. At least I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

Few parts starting to arrive back from the powder coaters now. Still waiting for the frame. Just need to order a set of swingarm bearings, and steering head bearings and it shouldn't be too far from having the rolling chassis complete.

To be honest most of it will get reused. Just needs a bit of sorting.

You really need to buy a can of Kroil. Soaking stuck fasteners for a couple days and then removing them with no trouble is FAR easier than trying to remove broken fasteners. The stuff really does work; I have used it on quite a few stubborn fasteners and never had a problem removing them after a good soak. No kidding! See link below, and below that is the picture of the product I use. It works! Ed

Back onto working on the bike again and pulled the motor down last night. I don't have a very big budget for the engine rebuild but I do want to get a little more poke out of the old girl. All looks tidy and well inside which I was hoping as the bike ran pretty well before. In my pile of parts that I have been collecting over the last few years I have a set of what I was told are Moriwaki high comp pistons. They are standard bore size and came as a race kit for the bikes competing in classes limited

cc to under 1000. Also in that same secret pile of bits I also have a set of cams from an 84 GPZ1100. Fingers crossed it should be a good mix and give it a little bit more up and go without busting the bank.

it runs sweet so my gut tells me not to muck with what is already working okay.........................should I crack into the bottom end, arrr can't decide but hey least I am getting somewhere. Bores not bad and as the pistons are the same size no rebore, just a hone.

My box in the corner of the workshop, been collecting bits for zeds for a time and it's great to finally be able to use what's in the box! What is awesome about the Police Kz is it's really really easy to get bits for them.

Another peek in the stash pile.......................................

oh yeah!

you may slide a feeler gauge between the rod and crank to check the big end side clearance.
these old lower ends are pretty solid.
no weird discoloring on the rods????
prolly fine,a hone and them new bits you'll be doing long smokey burnouts in no time  .

If you're going H/C pistons and you 're in it that far, I'd have the crank checked and welded. Look at the tranny too.

Had a dusty afternoon sand blasting more of the small bits and bobs to get them ready for the powder coaters tomorrow.

Reconditioned the Showa rear shocks I am going to replace the toasted originals with, coated the springs yellow, and all back together.
