I bought my 86 KZ1000P from Sacramento, CA a few years back for $400. The poor ol' girl was then shipped back to New Zealand where I had grand plans of turning it into cafe brat styled custom. Funny thing is, once I got her home I discovered that I loved riding this bike! What an awesome beast and even better, as there are only a handful of Police Zeds in NZ, it got people coming up to talk about it every time I took it out. Never realised how popular CHiPs was lol! Anyways, long story short I can't get rid of it or chop it up so what to do! I can't own a bike without buggerizing around with it so it's going to get new lease of life...................same, same, but different!

The poor ol' girl is pretty rough so I have decided best way to go is to start at the bottom and work my way up!

Welcome to the site

Those police bikes are very cool as stock and will always get lots of attention.
Here's one of my favourites police bike customisations from the gallery here. The Fat Kaw, built by sandracer (RIP) 10 years or so ago. He started with a police bike and there may even be a project thread in the archviev here .... if you decide to take that kind of direction

Always figured that the best place to start when building a bike is at the bottom so the rims have been blasted, new bearings, and ready for some new rubber!

Pretty much everything I touch is buggered! This is the front wiring loom! I don't have a very big budget for this bikes rebuild so I have to reuse most of the original parts if possible. Despite this the throw out pile seems to be getting bigger than the keep pile lol!
