A guy on Facebook posted pictures of his KZ1000J and his bike turned out so nice I want others to see how it came out. His name is Stephen Cundall and I believe he's from the UK.

I have an '81 J model sitting in my backyard (along with several other bikes) and I think I'm going to model mine after Stephen's.

That is beautiful, what is custom about the wheels. They look like stock Kawasaki mags.

Wheels are Dymag? The big zed fours of that era all use 7 spoke cast wheels apart from the 82 GPz550 which used 5 spokes, later debadged as the z550F.

That bike is familiar looking, there was on like that on ebay uk last year I think.

Interesting, the 'Lawson Reps' are more 'GPz1100 B2 reps' - but I prefer the lines of the later tank anyway.

gpz550 guys can usually spot 5-spoke mags, versus 7, as they were used on the 82-83 gpz550's. All other KZ550's, including the 81 gpz, used 7-spoke, so the 5-spoke ones look more sparse and stand out. I always wondered if any of the larger KZ's used 5-spoke Enkei's. I thought I remembered some shaft-drive model having them... but that could just be my imagination.
EDIT: Couldn't find any in a search. Only on 550's and smaller Kaw's.

I thought I read the 5 spoke Enkei mags may have been heavier since the rim portion had to be thicker, but I can't confirm that.

I assume the ones on that bike are not factory wheels.
EDIT: Therefore I assume they are not Enkei's, in case that wasn't clear.
