not that many were on the edge of their seats or anything, but I got back to work. After using most of my time for this:

I got the urge to continue. After much though, I slowly decided to get away from the USD forks. They are more trouble than they are worth and they limit some other considerations, so it was back to my junk pile. I decided to used 1984 VF750F wheels and front end. These are not super groovy, but period and they are a slight improvement. I realized I was heading towards a Sanctuary copy and away from my first love :80's superbikes. I have also decided to use the rearsets from the same donor bike, but I have to cut them to remove the latticework that hold the passenger pegs. Still a long, long way off, but any progress after a quarter of a year is good.

Your thoughts?

I am also going to relocate the top shock mounts to where they are resting now. Anyone know the strongest technique for that?

Been following your built.....I had vision another look as you mentioned....endurance racer. That last pic looks more of a cafe racer.

you are right about the café-ishness. Its the seat. Im not 100% sold on it, but it fits and I have been trying to put it on something for over a decade. Plus it is upholstered and snugs up to the tank quite nicely.

not many options for seats. maybe I should peruse airtech for a while.....

Looking good Tim. If your going to use those forks and have the extra $, you might be able to send them to RaceTec and have them reworked. It's worth looking into. I have never used them but many others wishing to keep the stockish look but improve preformance have. Just a thought.

I had no idea that anyone else had tried first gen interceptor forks. They do seem logical as they are the same length. I do like the brakes as well. If you look closely at the rear wheel, i quick and dirty sprayed it gold. Those wheels powdercoated in a nice factory racebike gold will really look the part. I am not too worried about ground clearance anymore, even with the 16" front wheel. I just need to go back to the press and lathe, because the honda stem is almost 2" too long.

Also, is it me or did kawalski have some butt ugly solo seats back then?

here's a shot of relocated upper mounts by sanctuary.

here is the jig they use to make sure they are correctly located.

how good are the choices of tires for that 16"wheel?

Thanks for those pics. I thought that i should go through the frame again like thr factoru did. My other idea was to make a horseshoe shaped bracket arpund frame tube with the ears facing rearward.

The 16 offers a little bettef than 19. Fortunately, withe the CBR900RR and the HD Sportster race series, there are a few optopns for a 16 front.
