if you think the stock shocks are stiff ohlins are gonna break your balls, and they are completely overkill unless you address the front end suspension as well.

What other options look good? My springs are rusted and the chrome caps are dented from lay downs. They're in rough shape.

Also I got my new jets in.

17.5 pilot makes my choke lever useless! Bike just wants to start and run no choke, maybe 1/4 on the lever just for the start then it wants choke off.

With the 105 mains it seems to be pulling better, but I might go bigger to see if it continues to help. I have a set of 107.5's as well.

Bike just seems to have half the power and response that I see on helmet cam videos.

Idle take a second to come down and will hang unless you blip the throttle, the. It returns to idle....might just have to spring for new carb holders :(

When my idle was hanging I found that my timing advance mechanism needed cleaning and lube. It ran soooo much better after that.

Is that behind the small cover on the right hand side? Mine is an aftermarket cover, not sure what happened to the original. Probably something wonky in there. Ill take a peek thank you for the recommendation!

Yes, the points are behind the cover shown below. Ed

Well you were right. I can see the timing advance mechanism behind the points plate and the high/sticking idle is directly related to that. Seems it spins out real easy and doesn't want to come back down...

Is this a common problem? Springs worn out or something?

Well now it's worse.

Even a little blip of the throttle it goes to 4-6k RPM and just hangs there. If you really crack the throttle hard a couple times it will come back down to idle.

All I did was set the point gap(was a little too loose) and clean the points.

It hung a little before but would always slowly come down. Now it wont.

I tried turning the fuel screws in all the way and still the same effect.

Went to 17.5 pilot, up from a 15, and a 105 main, up from a 97.5

I'm confused how this engine is getting enough air and fuel with fully closed throttle to run 6k RPM...

I should also mention that I cleaned/lubed the timing advance with no effect.

My carb sync port caps were full of fuel, is that normal?

I'm not confused anymore, I thought about it for a while last night when laying in bed and it makes perfect sense that I have big issues with air leaks. Other than the carb holders, what are likely sources of leaks?

I will use some carb cleaner and poke around to see if I can get any response.
