Take a look at adjusting the brake pedal. If it is rotated too high on the spline the kicker can hit it. Otherwise, it's possible something is bent and causing that interference. Ed

I just got done cleaning out the carb jets and blowing out passageways, the pilot jets were almost completely clogged on all but one carb. Mineral spirits did away with all the gunk quickly. My rubber boots were showing hairline cracks so I siliconed those up a little. The carb had 97.5 mains and 15 pilots. Ill leave it alone for now as the bike ran on this setup at one time, can always fine tune later on. I set the screws to 1.75 turns out.

I have some new k&n brand filters on the way as well, battery is charged, we will see what happens.

At the very bottom of each carb bowl there is a brass nipple. Those are where the overflow hoses attach. From there. the hoses run toward the rear; right hand side of the engine, and they go through that rubber loop. From there they run down behind the engine between it and the swing arm pivot. They should be long enough to aim down at the ground so any fuel that may overflow goes onto the road instead of the engine. Ed

Nifty little thing that is then. Got it squared away.

I also got the carbs back on but still have the same issue. I can idle but any sort of throttle input the engine bogs down and wants to die, when you release the throttle it will come back to an idle. I'll fiddle around with it some more later on today and report back.

Just replace those carb holders, It's well worth it. I tried to get my originals to seal up with sealant, even cut paper gaskets to try a second time...they still leaked. My friend with a '78 KZ650 did the same, eventually he bought a set of new ones and it made a huge difference it how it ran. So I broke down and bought a set, trust us....its WELL worth it! Don't waste your time messing with the originals.

Or are you referring to the tubes between the airbox and carbs? Replace those too, the new ones are very soft and flexible making it MUCH easier to get the carbs off and on.

Speaking of my friend with the KZ650, he needs a lot of parts if your selling stuff.....PM sent.

Carbs were not getting fuel. Bike runs well now. Idles GREAT. Throttle response at idle is GREAT all through the rpm. It does rev up a little with choke so I may move up one size on the pilot.

Bike runs, but under heavier throttle it seems to lose power, runs better if you back the throttle down a little bit.

Still no filters on it though so ill test it again when the new K&Ns come in before changing any jetting.

All my cylinders look like the plug on the right except #2 which is the plug on the left.

New K&N filters came in. Also I was going to lower the needle clip one slot when I noticed that the slides were not at all the same height, so I used the wire method mentioned in the clymers manual. I figured since they were all so low that now being in spec the needles will sit higher so I left the clip alone.

Still seems like it wants choke to idle, but once I get the filters on ill know for sure if I need a bigger pilot.
