Hi,

I am new to this forum and wanted to say hello, this place is great. I stopped riding a few years ago after an accident racing supermotos. I am ready to ride again and just acquired a 1975 Z1 in a trade with my best friend.

The bike is stretched and raked. The motor was rebuilt and never started. 1075 Wiseco. 36mm Flatslides, undercut tranny and new clutch. I am not crazy about the drag set up but its growing on me. I want to either go with a stock length swingarm or a Gs1100 swingarm.

I have a few questions.

My rear wheel was relaced by buchanons with a 3.5" rim, Will that rim with a 150 or 160 fit on the stock swingarm?

My bike was raked 4 degrees and goes straight as an arrow, will that much rake make it handle bad?

Can a frame be deraked?

When my friend bought the bike back in the 90's, it was perfect. A completely stock and beautiful z1. I tried to convince him to leave it alone.

on the rim and tire....

I am running a 150 x 70 x 18 tire on a 3.50 rim.

With a stock swing arm and a 630 chain, I have less than 3/8" from chain to tire side wall.

Thanks 4Tech looks like I should be ok.

I have some Werks shocks that are 14.5" long. Hopefully raising the rear will cancel out some of the rake that was added. Any logic to that?

Ya....a stock swing arm inside width at the rear axel is around 9 1/4" if I rem right. Mine was 9 3/8" So if you are around that you will be ok.

Well ive made some progress. Started the motor and it sounds great. A little oil leak at the shifter but that will get fixed. I was able to get in contact with the guy who rebuilt the motor 0-13 yrs ago (it has not been run since).

Fork tubes are stripped and getting a complete rebuild including springs and gold valve emulators if I can find them.

The bike is completely stripped. The frame, triple clamps and fork lowers are at the powder coater.

I already have new fork tubes, springs, handlebar controls, heavy duty starter and rectifier.

I just ordered complete body set in the correct 1975 blue color combo. Hopefully next week the bike will be back toge3ther. If everything goes as planned this will officially be the easiest and quickest project ever (knock on wood).

Should be done soon. I'm picking up my frame and other parts from the powder coater tomorrow. My tank, tail and side covers came in today as well.

Frame turned out real nice. See pics below. Looks like my motor is actually an 1105 vs 1015.

Got my gs swingarm but not really sure what shocks to go with. I have a set of Werks shocks that would be perfect but they have rid ends instead of clevis. I've thought about midifying the gs swingarm to accept kz shocks but haven't been able to find any write up on anything like that. Any suggestions? If I decide to go with new shocks does anyone know what length I need to maintain stock ride height?

Very cool Infanterene! I like the Purple frame with the Green body. V-hines looks ready to rumble. I was in the back yard tonight looking at, and dreaming about My 1974, z1a 900, its still rough.

I liked to green but no so much the purple. That's actually what it looked like when I got it. Now the frame is a gloss black powder coat and blue body woks. I still have the green bodywork so it might end up back on at some point.

it will be much cheaper to modify the GS swingarm. if you don't want to make your own mounts you can just buy some and have someone weld them on. done and done. z1enterprises carry some nice ones.
