Did some more upgrades to the bike while the motor was out. Cut off the old turn signal tabs, exhaust tabs, removed the rear fender and old tail light. Going to do a solo seat on it now.

Been tinkering with the bike some. Rebuilt the forks with new springs, seals, and oil. Painted the lower forks satin black. Clip on bars, stacked projector headlamp, new hydraulic masters for clutch and brake (doing a hydraulic clutch conversion). Pistons finally came, and started on the solo tail piece.

What shocks did you end up using I need some for my shaft drive KZ1000

Sorry bud, I'm not sure, it was so long ago. I think they were just some ones I found on Ebay.

Did a few more touches, including motor paint.

Do you happen to still have the vetter mounting hardware? I have a couple of old fairings but looking for the brackets.

Vetter stuff is long gone, sorry.

More progress, slowly but surely.
Mostly machine work on the head and block, brake lines, and shift linkage left.

Should be ready late spring.

Any suggestions on what I should do about a seat? Should I cut off the hinge tabs, if I do how do I keep the seat in place? Should I find a donor seat and cut the back half off and re-foam and cover it?
I tried to make a pan out of sheet metal, but my dimensions were all screwy, and it just looked weird.

Did some more work. Been busy with life crashing around me, and moving, all that fun stuff.

You can also see that I've relocated the side kickstand further up the frame, for rearset clearance.

And got the block bored, pistons installed.


Just working on getting the head and cams squared away, then it can get dropped back in! So close I can smell it!

Should I replace my BS34's with some Lectron 40's? Bit 'spensive, but I heard they're worth every penny.

Will a custom exhaust system be needed to accommodate the rearsets?

I'll have to wait until I drop the motor in to know for sure,i might have to change out the muffler, just use the same collector. Looks like it might be a bit low mocked up.


Also picked up a FZ6 last night as a daily rider.
