I might not write much but I like what you did, keep us posted.
First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, getting new/ refurbished 83-84 motor soon
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as above)

So one kwicky update, traced out and formed out my seat pan template. I am using .125" UHMW plastic sheet that you can staple to. My thoughts are now around how to mount it to the tale.



I had the bright idea I could cut and access hole and glass a "glove box" underneath the seat where it curves up. So if I was to do this, just want to make the seat easily pop off instead of bolt on. Thinking aluminum pegs through grommets. Any ideas you fine folks have? Maybe just skip it and bolt it on....

My seat pan's held on by heavy duty Velcro, which is plenty strong.

Something like the d-ring fasteners below might allow you to take the seat off easily if you have a way of mounting them.

True I could go the DUZ fasteners, would just have to access them from the underside with the remote masters sitting under the seat, probable not going to work. Thought about the 3M hook and loop stuff that hold like 35lbs for each 2" section, not sure about the constant pulling on the tail paint, but another idea to stew over....

I ordered up a mini in black anodized with the small 7/8" flange. Now to dig through the aluminum pile and buy a 3/4" tap.....

Yes the ID is 2 1/2" .
