Thats just crazy talk right there Tyler. Now if NADS jumped in talking about a bionic arm from space that he didn't approve of while discovering that degreeing his cams 180 degrees out gave him tons of power at 20,000 RPM shifting into third gear at 150 mph.....well then in might be off topic. But probably not :P

Leon, I know you're sick, so I ordered some threaded tubing ends and clevis rods. Should have them by middle of next week. I also bought a set of '08 ZX10 passender brackets/pegs, as well as an oil pump from a low mileage KZ900.

I ended up having to drive out to Fontana in the early afternoon to do some QC work at a precast concrete manufacturer, and didn't get home until after 12 am. Before I left I did get a chance to dissassemble and clean up/prep the electrical mounting bracket. I cut off the welded nuts, wire ties and the fuse box mount. Cleaned it up with a sanding disk and covered it in packaging tape. It won't be perfect, but its a one-off bracket that no one but me will see. Slowly.....much too slowly sometimes :pinch:

Pics of what? My bike? Heavens no. I guess I have to make some spacers to mount these rearsets though eh? I'm gonna mount them like rstnicks I think, if they'll go on like that. I'll take some pics Sunday when I'm at it and post them. I doubt I'll get them on this weekend as I need spacers machined, but I'll mock them and measure stuff.

I figured you had alot on your plate already Leon. As generous as your offer was, I didn't want to add to that pile. You did get your wifes boat going for the summer, didn't you? :woohoo: Both the clevis's and threaded tubing ends are on their way. I went with 5/8" 18 pitch threads. Seemed big and strong enough :P Hell, the tube ends are even CroMo, not that it makes a lick with that dirty japanese frame steel

I picked up my right fork leg from my suspension buddy this afternoon B) I'll have a roller again in short order while I finish up the remainder of the fabrication details. Too bad I've run out of time this evening....or have I?

Looks good Leon, just about ready to ski behind :P I got my passenger peg brackets in today :woohoo: From an '08 ZX10R:

9.5" distance from centerline between the mounts to the peg. 5" offset from the mounting face. I'll put the seat on this weekend and have the little woman see where they feel the most comfortable, then get to work on the mounts :)

On the electrical panel, I stripped the back:

Then I went over it with a sanding disk to clean it up and covered it in packaging tape:

Time to cut some cloth out, mix some epoxy and make a new plastic bracket B)

What is wrong with me? I mixed some epoxy resin, cut out 5 patches of carbon cloth and did a wet layup. Heck, I even threw in some glow in the dark powder in the resin, just to see what it would look like. But after I was done with the "simple" copy of the steel bracket, I couldn't leave it be. I figured I'd get a better product if I vacuum bagged it, so I rushed to throw a bag together get the part in and pull a vacuum before the resin started setting up (I used fast activator) So now the bracket is on the bench under a vacuum, and I hope my rash bagging won't backfire on me and necessitate redoing the part. Ahhh, such is life, eh? I should go put my forks and wheel back on, bolt on a carbon sidecover and the seat so I can better assess the passenger pegs.

I meant to tell you that the third gen zx-10r passenger pegs seemed longer than either of the two that I have. That tail keeps getting higher on that bike. Looks like you figured that out on your own.

As for your resin layup issues, I say chalk it up to epoxy fumes affecting your judgement. I know that stuff messes with me.

If Leon doesn't hurry up and put that motor in a boat, then I might buy it off him to put in my 67 Mustang. :P

Man, I wanna know what epoxy resin you used Josh, because my stuff is pretty mild. Its the polyester stuff that kills me. I didn't want to fight with demolding this little panel after it was fully cured, so I stripped it out while it was still green.

Note: any of the pearls or glow in the dark powder doesn't work well in carbon laminates.

I started with West Systems, and ended up with some sort of 2:1 epoxy that was locally available.

I prefer the 2:1 and 3:1 epoxies over West Systems 5:1 products as they are more tolerant of minor mix ratio errors, are cheaper, and are water clear. I'm not a fan of West Systems products...mostly their pricing though

West Systems is ridiculously expensive. As a matter of fact everything in West Marine is ridiculously expensive.

I think it was just the quantities involved and the fact that I was working in the bottom of my boat. The vapors seemed to hang around in there. I was replacing the whole floor, so I used about two gallons of epoxy in all.

Could be worse! Could be better too though. I can live with it. Tomorrow I will get it mounted, as well as make another flat carbon panel for the other side to mount the reg/rec unit. Perhaps I should make a set of sidecovers tomorrow too.....I need a clean, usable set for mocking up B)
