Title says it all! I have a 1978 650 and the exhaust smells like a diesel truck and leaves your clothes smelling the same.. Ive put new oil in it and thats about it.. any ideas?

Did you fill up recently? I'm guessing bad gas. This happens quite alot. If it were actually diesel, then I don't think that you would get it running. Is this problem recent or ongoing?

haha nope not diesel fuel! but yes its an on going problem..

OK so we can rule out the gas. Have you looked to see if there is something flammable touching the pipe somewhere? Wire, hose, your shoe, the options are endless.

dry your tank out, go to another gas station that really moves there supply of bulk gas,take home put in tank along with about 6oz of seafoam, see what happens then!

What do your plugs look like? Does the bike still run well? Idles ok, no hesitation, starts easily, still gets normal fuel milage. Also, have a look at your battery. Are the connections clean and not frayed? Does the battery get hot as the bike runs?

did that I have a really busy gas station I always go to with good gas, but i will try the seafoam. how does that help exactly?

all good questions the bike does hold an idle, somewhat starts good (about 3 kicks) all battery stuff is good (havent checked how warm it gets.. does ok on fuel

SEAFOAM like putting superman in tank..it just helps, clean,dry, stabilize gas, might even help bring up the white count(octane)
