i think they will heal up just fine, there testarossa!
i believe that most in this group give and take about the same.
i just thought that it was a typical texas reaction :P .hahaha
no offense meant.
my dad was the sapulpa oklahoma president of the gypsies m/c in the mid seventies and drug us all over texas(oklahoma and mexico also)to club runs.all the rugrats ran together and playin and fightin with texas kids is some of my fondest memories from that time.having to deal with (and defend oklahoma against) texans all growin up i fully expected the type of response you gave.

Relax Josh, I was still kidding around with my last post :silly: ... though its true, I don't own a diaper genie....and I'm still trying to figure out why you had me moving in with my parents   Just some good natured jestering.

I was going to retort with something to the effect that if you managed to shear a bolt head off the bottom of your oil pan, you'd have to take all the cooling fins with it. And if that were the case, oil loss would be the least of your concerns. But you put so much effort into your response, I thought perhaps there was something other than Tdub calling you a woman getting ya riled up

You are too right about nuances and inflections lost in the written words here. Just know I respect your abilities and knowledge. Without your help my project wouldn't be where it is. B) So, when do we sit down with a 12 pack in the garage?

Nicely said Adam. I feel the same way. Anything I say I say in jest of course, and I know that things can get mixed up over the interwebs. If I didn't live so damn far away I'd be all for that 12 pack in the garage!

Lets go ahead and make it the Four Horsmen B) :P   Glad to hear that everyone is cool. I thought that, but felt like I was walking the tightrope on that response. (I had all weekend to think about it with the Cub Scout dads !Yuck!) I was trying to find a good central meeting place to meet up, but Jesus Tyler. Newfoundland! Could you be any further east. I think that you and Adam could meet in China. I was originially going to say Colorado Springs, Jackson Hole, or Moab. That leaves the Canadian contingent traveling a little far. So what about The Tail of the Dragon, or ??? I have never travelled east, so I don't know. Hell lets just meet in Adam's garage. I wouldn't mind an excuse to travel back to Cali. I'm goin back to Cali, Cali Cali...

I know that anytime I have ever been to Mexico, you can't spit without hitting a canadian on "holiday". While I'd love to have everyone come to Southern Cali(clear and 70F), it might be more fair for all of us to travel....to, say, the Riviera Maya???? I'll have to wait until the baby is a bit older, but I have more than a few people breathing down my neck for another Mexico trip. :woohoo:

Glad to hear you had so much fun camping with the cub scouts; I'm sure all the other dads were super interested in how you were defamed on a website where you're documenting the modernization of a forgotton old, ordinary ricer

We should put all of our locations into a computer and see what the dead center is. I'd be willing to go pretty far on the KZ, but Mexico is pushing it I think. :woohoo:

It would have to be a short stay.
I dont think i could go very long without a fix from Ebay. I just love to keep the emotions on a roller coaster.
1 day i'm high from a newly won part, next i'm pissed because some jerk ripped me off.
I got burned on a set of crash rails for my CBR recently.:( Feel good about the new sliders i just won.:)
As long as i keep on a high note, I'm fine. it just gets expensive , compensating for losses with wins.

Riviera Maya sounds good too. That leaves me with the shortest distance to travel.

As for the cub scouts, my son loves it, and it's good for him so we stay. The dads are all good people, just not my style. All of them are 15 to 20 yrs my seinor and just a little too "shallow rich guy" for my taste. One of them has a feigned interest in my motorcycle, but its really just small talk to him. He asks about my old car every time I see him. The conversation is always the same. Mr. S "So I hear you have a old car." Me " Yeah, its a '67 Mustang." Mr. S "Cool, what body style?" Me "Hardtop." Mr. S "Yeah, but what body style? Is it 2 door or 4?" Me "They only came in three styles, hardtop, fastback, or convertable. Its a 2 door, Mustangs never had 4." At this point I usually go check on the kids, since he won't, and he's the den leader. He would just think that they (the motorcycle and car) are too much work. He doesn't get that I enjoy the work.

BTW Mr S happily allows me to be his son's father for the weekend since his boy is a little challenging. They adopted the kid from a Russian orphanage, and he is believed to be the child of a drug addict. He is hugely ADHD, got held back in Kindergarten, and is still a thumbsucker at the age of 8. Can you see why I was a little off on Friday? I won't even tell you what the kid did at the last campout. If it weren't for his mother (the adoptive one) he would receive zero supervision. Sad, really, so I help where I can. Out of nine families in our den, we were the only ones smart/stupid enough to bring our bikes. So I spent all of the free time being the carnie who runs the ferris wheel. I had to marshall who got to ride the bike all of the time. Good fun.

Mr. S sounds like a real winner. A true friend! So while you were preparing to be father of the year for the weekend, TDub calls you a girl.........tragic. :P

The Riviera Maya is short distance for me too...... 40 miles to LAX!
I'm not sure an equidistant meeting place is the best idea, it would most likely put us in the middle of nowhere Nebraska or the Dakota's. We'd need to pick someplace fun, or at the very least fun to ride. Most of us don't even have ridable Kzs yet, so its a plan for the future.
And Mark, why do you get burned so often in auctions? I've been burned a couple of times, but not on the scale that you have! Damn buddy......

Still closer for me. I'm less than 10 mi. from Bush Intercontinental. Mark, step away from the Ebay. It's called addiction and the first step to recovery is acceptance of the problem.

Enough screwing around. Back to work now. I got my box of goodies from Z1E today. YEEHAW!!! Now that I have my Dyna 2000, I can work on fabrication of all of the electrical component mounts now. Here's a pic to give you an idea of scale on the Dyna box.

BTW I ordered the KZ1000 replica emblems for the sidecovers from Z1E. I must say that these are worth every penny. Very heavy metal construction that is actually better than the factory emblems. I'm not sure how I wound up with LTD sidecovers, but my bike was a Frankenstein.

Actually the sidecovers appear to be one size fits all. While they have the correct holes for the LTD emblems. They also have the locations for the KZ1000 emblems.

This picture is the back side of the sidecover.

Now a question for the Dyna 2000 owners out there. Are the four Phillips head screws on the back removable for mounting purposes?

10 miles eh? Fine Josh, I aquiesce, you win!

The Dyna 2000 box is smaller than I would have though. I don't remember if you had plans to modernize any of the electrical to shrink/package it into a smaller form factor. Are you leaning toward putting it under the seat, or under the tank?

Another question. Those who are running pod filters. Have you built a support structure for the carburetors in lieu of the factory airbox?

Under the seat. I'm thinking that I may need the rest of the area under the tank for HID Ballast eventually.

No. I do not believe one is needed. I have never seen any such support, and the unsupported RS34's I put on my grandfathers KZ operated without issue until the tranny failed some 7 years later. It'll be fine to run pods without a support. I doubt you need to add the extra fab work to your schedule anyway B)

Extra fab work is not my idea of a good time at the moment. Work continues on the rearsets. Also I get to look forward to fabbing a taillight/license plate mount, battery box/dyna 2000/fusebox mount, rear shock nitrogen resivoir mount, rear master cylinder resivoir mount, exhaust mount, passenger footpeg mounts, and oh yeah gauge mounts. Did I miss anything?

:laugh::laugh:

I really haven’t been burned much. Once on ebay just recently, and once on another forum a couple years ago. Its just fun to exaggerate the realities of ebay a bit.
Both times I made the mistake of buying from a non proven seller.:(

The 4 screws on the back of the Dyna are for mounting.
No carb support is necessary. If u step up to bigger carbs u will need larger J model boots.
:)

This is an HID I just came across. Great deal.u should try it.

www.ddmtuning.com/content/techtips/bulbguide_low.pdf

I just bought 1 from Ottakar. His are slightly dif, in that they have a 55watt halogen high beam, which he removes and replaces with an LED. Then u run the led in daytime and the hid for high beam.
This 1 has a sliding mechanism that allows the hid to be used for both high and low beam.
I also bought a new headlight shell from Ottakar, both for $162.
