I have not touched the motor internally other than cleaning the clutch, dropping the pan and flushing it with kerosine. The previous owner was no fan of oil changes. I rebuilt the carbs and want to make sure it all works before I pull the heads to have the valves reseated. Then it will get re-ringed, seated, milled, maybe some 750 cams since I'm on a budget. I really just want to get on the road before it starts raining again. It all started with tightening the clutch cable. I should get the frame back today so I'll post some pics this weekend.

Looks good so far for a start. I'm interestd to see the frame. Trying to decide if it is worth bracing mine for the GPZ750 I'm throwing in my 650. I'd have to strip it down and repowder coat. Still, looks good.

To do the 750 conversion on your 650, would you have to do more than bore the top case if you kept the 650 head? Curious as this would seem to be a relativelly simple way to do a bore on a 650.

With the 650 jugs 710 is the biggest you can bore w/o sleeves I believe. The studs can be machined to recieve 750 Jugs (not sure about what exactly needs to be done) to go to 810cc as I'm sure you know. If the stud work can be done w/o splitting the cases I will go that route this winter. Other than that, the 750 cam drops into the 650 heads and 650 heads will bolt up to 750 jugs. So, no machine work necessary to use 750 cams (longer duration, same lift I believe), and only need to machine studs if using an older 650 casing. I deleted my starter, and kickstart is bad ass so I will probably end up machining the studs, cause I definately want to keep the kicker.

The theme of the bike is post apocolyptic roadwarrior zombie killer. I want to keep it very simple and very dirty. Already done: Carb rebuild, fork rebuild, frame gusseted and braced, clubmans (internal wiring), fork rebuild, blinkers and blinker frame mounts have been removed, center stand and mount removed, starter removed, no rear fender other than the ducktail, center stand and blinker mounts ground off, passenger pegs and mounts removed, GSXR rear sets and tail light and levers (remote resevoir F. brake), and all bearings are being replaced.

Near future plans include gaiters, header wrap, down size the front fender, straight tube exaust with an internal cone baffle, and I would like to get a gunfighter style seat. Motor mods for now are financially restricted to valve job (maybe oversize intake), and 750 cams. Other than that just a good internal cleaning and some engine paint.

Just a hunch, but I'd say you tightened that cable up a bit too much if it yanked the engine out of the frame and pulled the triple tree and forks apart. :P

See Yoji... tough crowd here...
BTW, Don't cop up to doing something really stupid like busting a hole in your engine case.... Yup, I did.... Not my brightest moment...
