Also, I did a little work on the zx9 rim i am using on the rear.

Hit the outer lip with 120 grit sandpaper to get the paint off.

Finsihed off with 1000 grit sandpaper and a little polish.

Finished product. Still need to clean it up a little bit, but overall i think it turned out well. Will do the same to the front rim whenever i get one.

PLUMMEN Offline User Posts: 8139 Thank you received: 103	looking good,thats a big jump from 120 to 1000 grit ya might want to try 220,320 ..... to make it easier to get sanding scratches out. Still recovering,some days are better than others.

I just ended with the 1000 grit, but i used 220 400-500, and a few other papers in between. The sanding scratches are still visible, but after 4 hours of sanding i decided to put the sandpaper down before i went crazy. I kinda like the brushed look and it is still very shiny.

PLUMMEN Offline User Posts: 8139 Thank you received: 103	yeah sanding sucks but its the secret to success! anyway if you can get the majority of scratches out take a bar of ivory soap and rub it on the bare aluminum then go over it with fine steel wool,see if you like that finish.thats how i used to finish aluminum interior panels on race cars. Still recovering,some days are better than others.
