bought this 1979 kz1000 mkII from a guy i know. got an amazing deal on it. 150 bucks in beautiful condition. the usual tank fade, and it was missing the carbs and side panels. decided to make it a project. my goal is to have a free motorcycle when im done by selling what im not using on ebay. so far so good. im in the home stretch now. i replaced the handlebars with some with a slight rise. then i got some gold ODI road racing grips. replaced the stock master cylinder with one from an FZ1 yama. replaced the turn signals with some polished aluminum ones. replaced the stock exhaust with a 4 into 1 with wrap. got the carbs which i still need to re-jet and i put on clamp on fiters. ditched the upper fender and the front fender. replaced the front calipers with some from a GPZ. not putting the sidepanels back on cause im not putting a battery in it. i got the tank off for painting currently, doing it a british racing green and yellow pinstripe along with the tail section. im open to suggestions on it still. im also not 100 percent on how to get rid of the battery.

This is what i did for an exhaust on my 74 z1 900, it is a vance and hines header custom midpipe, and a yoshimura rs3 can off of a katana 600.

Im not sure if im going to keep this exhaust after i rebuild it this winter, i was thinking of a sidewinder pipe or a kerker. If i do keep this set up, i will bend the mid pipe at a higher angle. But then again i may put the stock 4 into 4 z1 pipes back on that are collecting dust in my garage.

Today i got it started for the first time. ran like a champ considering not putting an exhaust and just running a straight pipe. finishing the paint up this week. did it british racing green. gonna put some yellpw pinstripe. im leaving the side covers off and removing the starter system. so i made some under seat pan's to hold the electronics and stuff. also got a TTR-50 yama battery to power it. its lookin good. im just hopin i can find the GPZ brake calipers that someone on here said would fit it.
