Now I must go to her and pull the carbs off and re-jet them. She is running a bit lean both at high and low throtle settings. I checked the gas milage over the last week and I am getting 45MPG. This has been checked over 5 days and was confirmed and re-confirmed with may-be a .2 MPG difference between the days. I will continue with more modiffications next week. I will be installing a new front wheel with more modern disks. Installing new front fork seals. I have already installed new side marker lights (You know- the rflectors which are mounted on the front down tubes of the frame)yes I did say lights not reflectors. Also new HID light, the new K&S left handel bar control. Cell phone JAMMER (yes you are reading right)Jammer. and much more. This winter I will be installing the new engine top end and more.

Thanks for the pics. Do you slide the tail onto the rear rivetted on clip then screw it on to the jb weld post?

that is correct. There is a undercut lip on the tail which slips over the rear bracket.

Re: Building a GPZ1100 from a CSR1000

Well- It's now been two weeks that I have been riding the beast and it is a smooth and pleasant ride. The problem arises at very low speeds IE idle and also at wide open. The bike is a bit rough at idle when the engine is hot and also has no power when I go over 6000 revs. I think that I am too lean at both ends. I left the stock idle jet and went three sizes larger on the big jets but I don't think that is enough. When I open the throttle to full in third fourth or fifth gear the bike just will not pull. When it gets to about 7000 which is about as high as it will go, it will pull a bit more if I actually bring the throttle back about a third. This is what is telling me that it is too lean at the top end. I would have thought that three sizes would be enough to compensate for the pod filters and the Kerker. I guess not. Any thoughts from you guys? I have never used CV carbs before and this is my first try with them. Any help would be appreciated.

Otakar,
Nicely done. Got pics of the whole bike? Left side and right side? Looks good in the close-ups; and nice work on the cold-welds...very nicely done.

I had that exact symptom on my CB750 and went to leaner jets last summer to get it to pull at the higher throttle openings. My plugs were also black and when I used a lot of throttle, it was puffing a pretty good bit of black smoke. That might be something to look at. Another difference, I was getting really bad gas mileage.
In fact, I reduced both the primary and mains. I don't remember the primary size, but I decreased from 115s to 105 main jets in my particular case.

On Saturday I did some more work on the bike. One of the things I did was totally disassemble, and rebuild the front forks. Boy what a difference. I will post a couple pictures later on this evening. I also did work on the carbs. I definitely noticed a big difference this morning. Where before I could not get her over 7000 I can now get to almost 9000, and she pulls a lot harder. I went a lot bigger on the jet size and think I will have to go even bigger. I will also post these #s this evening.

Did you buy the new shocks... Sorry, I flipped through this post pretty quick.
The company I beleive makes these is YSS. They are made in Thailand. The price is almost a third of other radial valved shocks out there.

Looking at the G-Series.
I'm considering these as well so really interested in any feedback.

No I did not buy the ones in the picture, those were much too short. The shocks that I did put on thare are new hoever, they are aftermarket for a Honda Goldwing. They are 1.5 inches longer than stock. Due to the two inch longer Suzuki swing arm that is on the bike. If however I can find shocks of that tipe at the link you sent me, that are long enough, I will buy them.
