Oooooooch... ...gettin' called out here! I was trying to make it thru winter quietly until summer got here...but noooooo! (:P )

Yes, actually one little thing, but I hesitate to talk about it.
I scored HUGE on eBay and picked up a brand new Corbin Gunfighter and Lady and back-rest for $50:ohmy: . I didn't want to say anything b/c I suppose some *ahem* fellow riders in this neighborhood may have 'meant' to out-bid me, but missed the opportunity. The seller ended the auction in the middle of the college football "#1 plays #2" game and miraculusly I pulled one off. Heck I didn't think I'd get it so I didn't even bother to check, when I got to my email the seller had dropped me a TON of emails asking me if I wanted it. I sort of freaked out a bit b/c I bid way over $50 and then I saw I got it on the cheap and the seller told me that several intentional bidders had contacted him with "offers"...B) woopsy.
Anyway, he nailed me good on shipping, but wtf, I don't mind... it's in a box, looks semi-cool on the bike, guess I could shoot that...?...B)

Hey Mark,
I haven't ridden this one, yet; but my other 'J' with 17"s I have ridden, and the rake isn't anywhere near 22*
I have a degree dial indicator, if I get a chance I'll measure and let you know.

On my other 'J' it handled WORLDS better than it used to...just no comparison at all...and it's the same set-up except for the Ohlins rear shocks (which - admittedly - do raise the ride height a bit). I'll check and let you know as soon as I can...at work right now.

curious to know how long the rear shocks are to ? i noticed my chain has been hitting the bottom of my motor mount. i have a 5/8" offset sprocket. if i raise the rear by moving the shock mounts it will help but then the rake will increase up front. it seams that if u raise the rear 1 inch the rake goes down about 1 degree.
is that a zx7 front fender too?

Hey Mark!
It's either a ZX7 or a ZX9 front fender...I think it's a 7.

My Ohlins are 15" on the bike center-to-center with nobody on the bike. The GPz1100 shocks are 13.5" center-to-center with nobody on the bike. A thing that may make the Clone bike (with Ohlins) look steeper is that the front forks are currently ZX7R forks and not the 2.75" longer ZX9R forks. I will be installing the 9 forks as soon as I can; it will be for ground clearence issues, not handling issues. I havn't sampled the 7R forks, yet so I can't make a subjective comparison...as the 'clone' will have the wife on from time to time I suspect that I'll need the 9 forks at any rate...to compensate for her buff little 104lb butt! (yum!) :)

I am also kicking around just swapping front ends from my 'J' hot-rod (don't know what to call it) and my 'J' Clone. That would steepen the hot-rod up a bit, and get me one step closer to finishing the clone. It'd also probably work out better b/c I have a set of PM wheels for the 'hot rod' that includes rotors, calipers, and caliper re-locating plates.

I dunno man; what do you guys think. At the moment I'm ramping up for finals and we're house shopping...could I get any busier???...

Have you chosen any swing?
I am in the same dilemma here, I hoped you could lead me some way.

With that Busa swing I have is the problem the bracing, its to large. After whats been said from some that tried.
ZRX swing is maybe the next...

Get a gixxer arm. You can brace an un-braced example, just take care of the width of the front of the arm where the swing-arm pivot bolt goes. ZX7 (not talking about ZRX) arms flare out too quickly, so don't look at them. I have heard that ZX9 arms will work...I have no personal experience. But, even some of the latest model gixxer arms will work. I'd look for arms from the post 'slab-side' models and all the way thru the 90s. The early 90s stuff is your best bet.

ALSO: Get a complete back clip if you can...piecing the rear suspension together is why my GS1150ES is still at the shop...waiting for custom cut spacers...don't ask. Just get everything from the swing-arm pivot bolt on back (wheel, rotor, cush-drive, caliper and bracket...all of it). Then all you have to worry about is shock mounts and the swing-arm pivot fitting.

Did you have any problems with anything lining up? Swing arm pivot, shock mounts, or anything? Seems like a guy gets around a LOT of problems when you get a complete assembly. I finally got my 1150 back from my buddy (who owns a shop) as my 'piece meal' approach had created a lot of hurdles for us...who knew all the gixxer 750/1100 air/oil cooled stuff from 89 - 92 wouldn't swap around? ...F-ing Suzukis anyway... :p

AH, YES! Man, every since the "reformatting" of the site I've gotten a bit lost on the threads for some reason...I'm totally familiar with your (superb!) bike, and I can't wait to see the new front end on it! Lookin' good!

After this weekend I should be able to get started on the 'Clone' and hopefully see completion before a couple upcoming events.
