Scott here from Tucson. My first Kawasaki street bike was a Black Z1R, I was 16 years old and had traded my KDX175 in for it. In a strait line it was unbeatable.... The advantage was lost as soon as it came time to change direction. The neat bikin 'cafe' Fairing was for looks only!
Before it killed me I traded it for another Kawasaki Dirt bike A big thumper 250 What a nice wheelie I could get on that. A traded my 1969 VW Baja for a brand new 1982 Kz750E strait across from the dealer.
Not a whole lot was available for us poor folks as far as high Performance parts, So I installed a set of alum low rise super bike bars, and a kerker 4-1 pipe, for tires we used the Dunlop magical rubber of the day. Also case savers. My buddies and I bought them so often the local bike shop had enough to keep up with us wearing them out. we would drag through them in a a month chasing each other up and down the Mt road.
My next was a 1984 Ninja ZX900, WOW! eventually a set CR carbs, Kerek 4-1 (dragged bad) ,DyMag wheelss and Lockheed brakes.I raced that a few times at firebird, No speedoo but Im sure it was an honest 160 Mph (seat of the pants estimate) That was the first time I had ever ridden Slicks!!! :woohoo: WHat a ride. a few races in and I low sided it, bouncing of the retaining wal. bent the forks, and I retired that bike and bought the 86 or 87 GSXR750 (another story]. I sold the bike to an old friend who owns and rides it as a street bike to this day...and no he wont sell it back to me! ;)
the last Kawasakis I have owned ZRX1100, Ninja 650 twin { nice bike w crappy suspension, weak brakes for the size IMO} Oh and a KX500 that I bought on ebay, it had been worked over in the engine department and as if it needed more power !!! It was such a MoFo to start that Iw as too tired to ride it once it fired. when it did OMG hold on. that was a lot of fun
I have

Been riding Dirt with my son for the last 12 years hes now 15, He started early and has worked his way to a Husqvarna Tcx310, while my current mount is a well sorted Husqvarna 511, I have had many more motorcycles than these ones, Rd500 V4 2 stroke I bought In Amsterdam , was cool as Heck with Marlboro paint scheme 5 different Ducati, M900, 900ss/sp**, M900 "Super Bee Custom 888Spo*, 916, the ss/sp and 916**
My favorite bike though is the 1982 Kz750 E, and like many of these I had to let them go along the way to feed my Mc habits (RACING COST $$$$$) Now Im hoping to finds a Nice donor bike and restore it..or should I say restore me to my Youth. I hope to learn things here on these pages while sharing Our stories. All the n]best ones have Motorcycles in there some place.
As soon as I find My bike I will keep you guys up to speed, If you run across A bike send them my way-
* speed ticket story

The KZ750E my favorite but I am a little biased.
Welcome and good luck in your search.
I still have and ride my 1980 KZ750E1 that I bought brand new.
Lot's of memories in that bike. I tease the wife that it is my last premarital possession.
I told my oldest boy that he is going to inherit it some day.
Welcome.
So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.
